Nighthawk Android app requesting Super user access
I just received an update to the app (though I didn't know it at the time) and while just using my phone normally for other tasks, a super user prompt came up for the nighthawk app. Why is this app now requesting superuser access? I'm not an idiot and only give it to apps that actually need it and that I actually expect to use it. However, I do not see any reason that the nighthawk app needs the superuser privilege. Anybody know anything?

Super user like the ability to su to root? No way - unless Android or iOS devices are hacked ("rooted") this is not possible. Therefore "normal" Android (or iOS for the sake of it) devices don't have such an App permission class at all.
Will as usual take a moment until the in-line images become visble.- DarkusRattusAspirant

Android does not know anything about a Superuser permission. Don't have the bigger picture on all factors can trigger your rooted device control App to raise the warning. I would imagine Netgear does not use any su or sudo, so a wild guess could be a lazy access to the Android device file system requesting to access or browsing the root file system / in some lazy way.
As standard Android is not affected (all this does not exist or is intentionally and for good reasons prohibited) I'd suggest you to contact ntgrapps_support@netgear.com

Correct, haven't spotted any changes here, too. The problem (if any) is not with Android Permissions - for these geeks with rooted phones (again, why ever) the Superuser App, a superuser access management tool for rooted Android devices. This App allows to grant or deny root permissions, or set it to ask each time. Why ever, some updated code might try to browse/access the root (/) file system, triggering this App notification.
