Nighthawk App (Android) timeout
Hello,
I have a Netgear R7000 which works perfectly fine and is accessible via web browser from my laptop. Unfortunately, I can't seem to use the Nighthawk app.
It gets as far as the "Login required" screen, thinks for a while then comes back with a messag that says "Your router is unreachable. Please check that your router is on. If this issue persists, try rebooting your device"
- The router is not unreachable for any of the devices on th network including the same phone (via web browser).
- I have tried the reboot of my phone and the router. Neither makes a difference.
This non-connectivity/unreachable error seems to be linked strictly to the Nighthawk app.
I've checked the Google store a few times and no update is available.
I've checked the Netgear website and it says I have the latest firmware
I am running as 192.168.1.1
The Netgear app does not allow me any option to direct search (via IP)

Yeah, nice lawyer answer. Guess it's time to switch to a company that does support there active/current software.

Yup, been thru all that...
Delete cache, delete data, reboot... Same
Delete data, delete cache, delete app, reboot, reinstall.
Same
Is there no Netgear staff technician support for their Android app?
I do appreciate you guys and your suggestions but why doesn't Nethear support their tools?

Something customers typically pay little attention to when purchasing things. See Section 23:
https://www.netgear.com/about/terms-and-conditions/
In addition, most routers are provided with "90 days of complimentary support" after which customers must enroll in one of the (paid) support plans. This is what caused most of us to come to the Community Forum.
Netgear's smartphone apps seem to require two sets of credentials.
- The Netgear account (email address and password), and
- The router web interface account ("admin" and a password).
It is not always obvious which the app is asking for.

I seem to remember seeing a recommendation to delete the Nighthawk app from the smartphone. Reboot the phone, and reinstall the app.

What modem/gateway is it connected to? Sometimes double nats cause issues with the app.
Are you using any ad blocking services like unbound or pihole? Or DNS servers?
