Netgear's Nighthawk app has been updated many times over the past year.  Apple or Android should have updated it automatically.

My iOS app still shows the old white devices tab that is not grouped by WiFi band.

Does your Apple Nighthawk App have a symbol similar to this "Filter" icon that appears in the upper right of my Orbi app?

I got out a Nighthawk MR-60 and installed the Nighthawk 'app' on a Samsung tablet.  Just like the Orbi app, the Nighthawk app has a Filter icon in the upper right corner of the screen that allows the Devices to be Filtered and Sorted.  This is Nighthawk Android app version 2.52.1.5377

Have no iOS to test with.  If the Filter icon does not appear on your Apple Nighthawk app, I'd suggest shaking the phone and making a bug report.

  • I have a Mr60 as well and have made a big report. Netgear just tells me itll be updated in future releases. That was a year or more ago. Mine looks like this

WTF???  The Apple Store says the current version of Nighthawk for iOS is v2.52.0, dated March 26.

It requires iOS v 17.6 or later.

What is the version number of your Nighthawk app? (and iOS?)

No "Filter" options at all.  Does clicking that goofy symbol open a sub menu?

Or, can this option screen be "pulled up" or scrolled to reveal more options?

Maybe someone on the Forum has an iPhone or iPad and can see how the Nighthawk app works on their system?

Nope. What you saw in the screenshot is all I have. No submenus, nothing to click.  I can only sort by "A-Z", "Z-A", or "Status", which is crazy unhelpful. There is a thread on Reddit that describes the issue exactly here. I've seen this new UI like once or twice, but it never stays around. When I contacted support I was asking them how to get this new UI permanently. They told me it would be rolled out soon, a year ago.

Also, my device list includes roughly 100 devices that are no longer in use. It just keeps them on the list for some reason. Someone that visited my house a year ago will still be on the list unless I delete it manually.

Yes, this is by design.  Suppose, for example, you deliberately "Allowed" that visitor's device. (or, you had Access Control set to "Allow", or.... Access Control was not enabled and thus every device is automatically "Allowed".)  When the device returns, the routers wants to know how to treat it.  It is no longer "new", so does it connect.... or not?)

Even though I have not enabled Access Control, I go in every month or so and clear out those tables.

That Reddit conversation mentions Armor and Parental Controls.  Does your system have those features enabled?

(I believe that...) Apple was the first major vendor to offer a means to shield customers from being "tracked" by using a different MAC address for every WiFi network they connect to.  This feature wreaks havoc on systems that use the MAC address to control access.  These days, Android, Apple, and many laptops default to making up MAC addresses for WiFi connections and customers have to go into the settings and deliberately choose to use the hardware MAC address.

Here's the setting on my Samsung Galaxy S24:

Being a bit OCD, I want my devices to get the same IP address every time they connect and I went to a lot of effort to use the LAN Setup table to assign them. It is really annoying (to me) that every time one of our phones or tablets updates software, the setting is put back to "randomize" and devices start showing up with weird IP assignments.  I have to go in and change the setting on the phone/tablet/laptop, etc.

Yeah I've got settings like that as well to keep the same IP on most of my devices, not all though. However, if the Nighthawk iOS app UI was the newer, dark mode, grouped by Wi-Fi band, and only showing active devices, I wouldn't need to worry about it. Do you know how to force this UI refresh? Any ideas how to get Netgear to give me a usable method or at least answer? Im not sure I understand why I have the latest software for both the app and iOS, but I don't see the newer UI.

Maybe they roll it out to select users over time?

The only way to talk to Netgear Support after 90 days from purchase is to pay them.  I am hoping that one of the regular Forum contributors will have Apple devices and also have a Netgear router that uses the Nighthawk app.

Given this is a potentially global iOS app software issue and I am up to date on both, I don't see it being something they will be able to troubleshoot with me specifically. Im sure they'd try to take my money anyways though. Im hoping a Netgear admin sees this post and chimes in, but Im not going to hold my breath.

What are you looking for on the NH app? Your first post gives no details...What did you discuss with NH support?

  • There is a Nighthawk app UI for Device Manager that a lot of others seem to have that includes dark mode, groups devices by WiFi band, has toggles for each device, and is much cleaner than my device view. In addition, my current UI shows every device that was ever connected (119 devices). I only have 24 currently connected.

    My Device Manager UI

    Other Device Manager UI

I actually found another post here on this exact topic. Here is the LINK for that.

    Nighthawk firmware version: 2.52.0.42

    iOS: 26.4

I want my iOS app to show this newer UI shown in the link above. With Netgear, I discussed how to get my app to show this version of the UI. They told me it would be rolled out with a software update. This was about a year ago and nothing has changed.

And do you have any SPC or Armor enabled in the NH app?

And to confirm you have a MR60 MESH Router?

I have RS600 online and will check this later today.

No SPC, Armor is enabled, and yes confirming I have a MR60 router.
