Meural II SD card issues

I am trying to display pictures from an SD card in my Meural II. I have read through several posts and have followed all of the suggestions with no luck.

The SD card is 128 Gb and class10. I initially formatted the card to eFat with one folder name "meural1". The folder had 6 pictures named pic1.jpg, pic2.jpg, pic3.jpg, pic4.jpg, pic5.jpg, and pic6.jpg. All of the pictures are less than one Mb in size.  I powered off the Meural, inserted the SD card and powered it back up. I went to browse on the Meural and the folder was not displayed. I reformatted the SD card to ext4 and added the picture as before and inserted the card as before. The "meural1" folder is now displaying, but when selected all that is displayed is a tiny SD card icon in the upper left corner of the frame. I have verified that the firmware is up to date.

So at this point I have run out of things to try.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you,

    Hello drframe ,

    Welcome to the NETGEAR Community!

I understand that you are having issues with your SD card for your Meural Canvas. Please start the troubleshooting process by ensuring that your system is up to date. Then reformat your SD card to "FAT32" and add one folder named "meural1". Then, add your photos with the compatible formats to the "meural1" folder and insert your SD card.

Please follow the steps listed below to update your Meural Canvas:
    Navigate to my.meural.com
Select your initials on the far right
    Select Canvases
Scroll down to Canvas Software Version
Select the arrow on the right of the software version
Select update on the top right

Additionally, ensure that all photos are formatted with one of the following extensions:
    .jpg
    .jpeg
    .png
    .bmp
    .svg
    .gif
    .avi
    .mkv
    .mp4
    .mov
    .heic (iOS Live Photos).

      Hello,

FAT32 is not an option on a 128GB SD card as it is limited to 4GB. I have tried FAT32 on small cards without success. The pictures are named "picture1.jpg", "picture2.jpg", "picture3.jpg".......... I have also tried several other SD cards of different sizes and speeds with no luck.

      Please provide other options.

      Thank you

        Hello drframe,

        Thank you for update!

Were you able to check the firmware on your Meural Canvas to ensure that it is the most current released firmware?

        Best,

        Kevin

This is what is displayed when trying to view the meural1 folder of the SD card.
  • Hi, I discovered that reasons for not displaying images are: Characters in filenames that are not allowed. Only letters, numbers and a dash are allowed. No underscores or other symbols. Probably also hidden windows files like thumbs.db are disturbing the reading by the canvas. I advise to copy files from your computer to the card using windows file explorer and not a foto manager to prevent these files from being stored on your card. Large file size (>10 Mb) is also mentioned as a problem but I use them without a problem (I think because my canvas just stopped playing images on my SD card after being unpowered power).
