Orbi 870 Anywhere access error

Hi,

I have an error while trying to turn on the Anywhere access. It was on but since 2 days gives me an error (see attachment).

some error occurred while enabling disabling anywhere access"

I have restarted the Router, removed the app (iphone restart), looked in the web interface for a setting, contacted the helpdesk but could only suggest a factory reset. I hope I don't have to do that, with 3 satellites to attach that is 45+ min of my life waisted.

I read somewhere that someone fixed it (3 months ago) with the Genie app, but its out of service and I can't find it.

Is there anything someone did to solve this that didn't mean factory reset please?

Ps. Could it be caused by a app update since it happened just out of the blue, no changes to config or working?

    What modem do you have?

Do they have any built in ad-blocking, virus protection, etc?

I know that some of the services have to phone home and if its being blocked, they won't work.

      This fixed it!!!

I had the setting on FIXED, which worked fine with anywhere access till last week. I switched it too OFF and now it works!!

      Super thank you!!

There is no option in the web interface regarding Anywhere Access on the Orbi app.  Enabling Anywhere Access can be done only from the app while the device is connected to the router on the LAN.

Can you install the Orbi app on a different mobile device? (phone, tablet)

  • Maybe I have been unclear, but the Orbi apps works, all app functionality worksbut ONLY when I am connected to the wife. My issue is that I can't activate the 'anywhere access' functionality.

Try the Orbi system in router mode, use the ISP routers DMZ for the RBR in router mode to avoid the double NAT condition here. Then see if using Orbi app works, then see if you can connect Orbi app to the Local connection to the system, then see if you can disable Anywhere Access while in the Local connection mode on the app.

How is the RBR configured for AP mode? Using Dynamic IP configuration or Static configuration?

Possible that Orbi app and AP mode and AA may have a problem or the ISP router maybe interferring with something.

What version of the Orbi app do you have installed on your phone or pad?

What brand and model phone or pad are you using?

Does this happen with a different phone or pad?

Remove the app from the phone or pad then reinstall the app?

Can try to submit a bug report thru the app:

Be sure to disable any MAC Address randomizers on phones and pads while at home:

What Firmware version is on the Orbi system?

Is IPv6 enabled on the RBR?

Using ISP detected DNS or custom DNS?

Has a power off for 1 minute then back ON with the ISP modem and router and satellite(s) been performed since last update?

Be sure to restart your network in this sequence:

    Turn off and unplug modem.

    Turn off router and computers.

Plug in and turn on modem. Wait 2 minutes for it to connect.

Turn on the router and wait 2 minutes for it to connect.

Turn on computers and rest of network.

If all else fails, you'll need to factory reset the system and setup from scratch. I would try setting up with a ethernet connected PC and web browser first:

What version of the Orbi app do you have installed on your phone or pad?

      Latest version, 2.51.0.37

What brand and model phone or pad are you using?

Iphone 16 pro, iPad pro (M4)

Does this happen with a different phone or pad?

      Both

Remove the app from the phone or pad then reinstall the app?

      And rebooted iPhone in between

What Firmware version is on the Orbi system?

      Also latest vv10.5.20.4_1.3.5

      Private IP address disabled

      Yes

Is IPv6 enabled on the RBR?

No, since I am using the router in AP mode. This might be a thing, I just received a new Modem of my provider to enable more than 1GB i-net. But my ISP router is IPv6 enabled.

Using ISP detected DNS or custom DNS?

Same? Since I am using in AP mode. My ISP Modem uses specific DNS's for IPv4 and IPv6.

      Does this help?
