Upgrading my current Orbi RBR20 router + 2 satellites to an Orbi 45 + 2 satellites.

I can connect them via my Orbi App but then get the message that they are not connected to the internet. How do I resolve this please?

Thank you.

  • Thank you for your advice. Our new system's Model number (from the box it came in) is RBKE963B-100APS.

The process I initially tried was through the ORBI app on my iPhone that I use for my existing ORBI RBR20 system. I connected  the new router to our modem and restarted the modem and the new router. It showed up as being connected but not connected to the internet. I tried this a couple of times with no success.

When I tried to resolve this through  my ORBI settings on my app, I got a message telling me my login credentials were incorrect. I then tried to resolve it through the web-based settings and got a bit lost in how I could resolve the issue that way also, so I reconnected  up my old system again in the meantime.

Hopefully you can help me now?

    Thank you

What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too?

Be sure your using a good quality LAN cable between the modem and router. CAT6A STP is recommended.

Be sure to disable any MAC Address randomizers on phones and pads while at home:

      So a 960 system.

I suggest doing a paper-clip reset of the new Orbi, and then setting it up again using the web UI (ignoring the app for now).  Netgear does provide free installation support (once you register the product).  Contact them using this page:

Googling for support can lead to a scam site, so best not to do that.

Orbi 45 is not a model number.  When Orbi systems are packaged, Netgear sets the default WiFi credentials to "ORBI" plus a two digit number and the password to a combination of random words.  These credentials are printed on the product label. This means that if two customers living next door to each other both purchase Orbi systems, the chances of them having the same WiFi name is roughly 1 in 100.  Since many customers choose to reuse the name of their previous WiFi system, the actual odds are almost zero.

Please describe the process used to install this new system (and the actual model number from the product label or the box it came in).
