Can backhaul be done without having all orbi’s connected to the same switch?

Great thread!

RBR850 + RBS850: Ethernet Backhaul in AP Mode - Horrible Performance or bad connection | NETGEAR Communities

I just purchased these Orbi’s. I’m looking to do wired backhaul. I’m using a separate switch connected to a MOCA adapter on each floor of my house. Can backhaul be done without having all orbi’s connected to the same switch?

  • RBS can be connected directly behing the RBR or to a switch that is also connected behind the RBR. Just know that any RBS that is ethernet connected, need to be always connected behind the RBR, along with any Switches that a RBS maybe connected too, these switches needs to be connected behind the RBR.

Non managed switches are recommended for ease of setup and configuration with RBS.

NETGEAR GS-105/108v4 and GS308v3, D-Link DGS-105/108 and HP ProCurve 1400/1800 series switches work for Orbi systems.

Can also mixed RBS connections as well, one ethernet connected, one wirelessly connected to the RBR.

  • Do I need to plug my switch into the Orbi router lan port. As well as plug Orbi router yellow port into my fios router?
