How to connect my RBR850 to my KPN network (NL)?

Dear community,

I am located in The Netherlands.

I was so far an happy owner of an RBR850 mesh system ( 1 main device and 2 satallites) for more than 3 years.

My internet provider was ODIDO but I have freshly started with KPN and its associated modem.

For unknow reasons, I cannot get internet through my mesh system anymore.

I read / find complaints about KPN modems not offering the bridge mode and hence doing things in AP mode, but still i cannot get it through ( yes i have proper internet out of the KPN box).

Qould some be able to point me towards peoper instructions how to connect RBR850 to a KPN home set up?

Thank you in advance.

Kind regards

Olivier

The first step is to connect the RBR850 WAN port to the KPN device. This should provide an internet connection.

Yes, there is a possibility that the KPN device is a 'router' (rather than simply a modem or Fiber Optical Network Terminator[ONT]).  If so, this would cause a "Double NAT" situation (internet search for more details), but that will affect specific applications.

It might be a good idea to do a Factory Reset on the RBR850 router before connecting.

What Firmware version is currently loaded?
What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too?
Be sure your using a good quality LAN cable between the modem and router. CAT6A STP is recommended.

Your ISP Modem already has a built in router and wifi. This would be a double NAT (two router) condition which isn't recommended. https://kb.netgear.com/30186/What-is-Double-NAT

    Couple of options,
    1. Configure the modem for transparent bridge or modem only mode. Then use the Orbi router in router mode. You'll need to contact the ISP for help and information in regards to the modem being bridged correctly.
    2. If you can't bridge the modem, disable ALL wifi radios on the modem, configure the modems DMZ/ExposedHost or IP Pass-Through for the IP address the Orbi router gets from the modem. Then you can use the Orbi router in Router mode.
    3. Or disable all wifi radios on the modem and connect the Orbi router to the modem, configure AP mode on the Orbi router.
