IPV6 no connection RBR 850
I called my ISP and they confirmed I have an ipv6 connection available from them on a fiberoptic connection to my Orbi RBR 850 which will not transmit ipv6 to my network and when I run an online ipv6 test it confirms not connected.
RBR 850 firmware v7.2.7.15, I just read on the netgear site this firmware is a problem for ipv6 and to set back the firmware to a previous version. I have checked my router settings many times in the advance ipv6 settings, currently set to DHCP
any thoughts from anyone who has experienced problems with ipv6 connection issues would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,

There is a known issue with v.15 FW and IPv6 failing to work.
If you need IPv6, then you'll need to downgrade the RBS first then RBR lastly to v.21 FW as that version was last known working for IPv6.Once you have the system downgraded, please factory reset the system and setup from scratch.
Who is your ISP?
What brand and model# is the ISP modem/ONT?

Its been an issue for a long time. And it's not just a Netgear issue, but an ISP issue. I have Xfinity, and it's not worked properly with an Arris, an OpnSense home-built router, or a Netgear. So while Netgear might be able to fix issues on their end, it's not just their issue.

Thanks guys,
My ISP is Hood Canal Communications on the Olympic peninsula. we were an unserved area until last year so a nice fiber optic was installed last year, very nice. my modem is an Adtran SN ADTN225050CD
not sure what you mean by downgrade the system? Understand the factory reset maybe. I do not follow to upgrade to v.21 FW. my current FW is v7.2.7.15 and shows it as being current where would I download the older FW from.
thank you

IPv6 is broke on v.15 FW, last known working FW was v.21. IF you want to try v.21 then you'll need to downgrade FW to v.21 and then factory reset and setup from scratch. Be sure to disable the auto update on v.21 so the system doesn't re-load v.15. Or just keep IPv6 disbled for now until NG and ISPs get this all figured out for IPv6. All up to you.

A firmware update has just appeared in the download area, no mention of IPv6 fix in the release notes though...just a security fix...

Looks like another firmware update posted, v7.2.8.5. Again, no mention of an IPv6 fix, just security updates :(

Following up on this...any word of an IPv6 fix coming?

It would be interesting to see a summary of which Netgear WiFi7 Orbi's (770, 870, 970) are known to support IPv6 (or fail to support IPv6) on each of the major Internet Service Providers.
i.e. Does IPv6 FAIL for the 870 on every ISP? Do 870's work on cable systems (Comcast, Cox, Spectrum), but fail on fiber systems?

IPv6 issues are known across ALL orbi systems. Many ISP levels with the ISPs as well. We've made NG aware of the issues at hand and others have been working with NG on this. Seems to take some time and have no idea if or when a fix will be forth coming. All in the hands of NG. Users will need to keep IPv6 diabled for now while on newer versions of FW if they choose to run with newer versions of FW. Othersize for AX and AXE series, and you want IPv6 working, can revert back to older versions of working FW which was reported by others for a work around for now.
We'll keep checking with NG on this.
Good Luck.

I'm on Cox fiber, odd part to me is prior versions (before v7.2.7x.) worked flawlessly and has remained broken with the last 2 updates of firmware. Also the time frame seems a bit odd with such a major brand and the length of time for a repair...almost a year now...just strange they have been unable to sort it out.

For me, RBR50 with Spectrum Cable handles IPv6 fine except that it does not allow inbound connections to public IPv6 addresses. testipv6.com scores my connection 10 out of 10.
(as a footnote, there is a Debug option, "Allow external IPv6 hosts ping internal IPv6 hosts", which does exactly what it says. When enabled, I can ping internal IPv6 hosts from the internet.
The problem is that I want to connect to internal hosts, not merely ping them.)So, I have one specific model of Orbi and one specific ISP that appear to support IPv6.
RBR850 fails with Cox fiber, Xfinity, and with Hood Canal Fiber. (newer firmware only)
not a lot of data points
