Issues with 2 printers (canon and epson)

Hello,

for some weeks now, without changing anything in my setup, my 2 printers, from 2 different OEM (canon and epson) have lost their Wifi connexions.

I am not able anymore to add them on the wifi, SSID are not showing anymore.

I am using a Orbi RBR 350 and RBS satellites.

thank you

The rest of your wifi devices can connect to the Orbi system ok?

What FW version is loaded on the Orbi system?

What channels is the Orbi using? Try 1 and 40.

What WIFI Security mode is the Orbi using? Make sure WPA2 is set on the system.

Is WPA2 and WPA3 mixed mode set?

Something to contact the printer Mfrs about regarding there printers and wifi connections.

Everything is working fine with 25 other devices connected (computer, phones, alarms, etc)

      firmware : v4.4.2.1_3.10.82

channels : set to automatic for 2,4ghz

all satellites and routes are linked with cables

      security : wpa2

      And I changed nothing…

Which models of printer? (so we can look at the User Manual to see if they support WPS connection)

Can you explain what you mean by this?

The printers won't have an SSID unless you are connecting them with WiFi Direct (which doesn't use the Orbi at all).

  • So, I did a reset of the Orbi yesterday. Printers were able to Connect again.

This morning, same issue, printers are not connected anymore.

And when I am searching the SSID of the network on my printers, impossible to find it.

    I have a Canon TS6350a and an Epson ET2756

The Canon TS6350a definitely support two methods for connecting to WiFi:

    https://www.canon.co.uk/support/consumer_products/pixma_printer_wireless_connection_setup/mg6350_printer_wireless_connection_setup

As does the Epson ET2756 (page 34-35)

    https://files.support.epson.com/docid/cpd5/cpd53993.pdf

The WPS method does not require selecting a WiFi SSID and entering a password.

Is there any chance that these printers are being BLOCKED from the network, either by the Orbi 'app' or by the web Access Control function?

Could it be that there are so many WiFi networks nearby that the desired network is to far "down the list" to be seen?

  • I have removed 2 of 3 satellites and it is working again… let’s see if it’s durable

  • Doesn't work anymore... Don't know what to do

    WPS not working as well...

Have you checked the Orbi's attached device list, to see if the printers are actually connected to your network?  Sometimes the problem is that the PCs lose track of them.

Is the Orbi set up for WPA2+WPA3 security?  Setting it up for WPA3 could cause this problem with older devices.

Generally you can check (and/or reenter) the wifi credentials from the printers (assuming they have an LCD screen).  Have you tried that?

In general, the easiest way to keep everything connected is to set up the new router to use the same network name and password as the old one.

        Nothing on the device list

Security is set to Wpa2. I Even tried to Connect them with an open wifi, no luck

Even if I enter the SSID manually on the printers, it doesn’t work

This routeur is the same for years and it just decided to do I don’t know what with my printers

  • New development : I have activated the Guest Wifi, and, now, I can see the SSID of the global wifi + guest on my printer... and I can connect my printers

I have noticed that, each time I am changing something on the ORBI, in the setup, the SSID is showing on my printers. I am able to connect, then I loose the connexion a few hours later.

  • To continue, I have been able to connect my printers... then, they go into sleep mode, and they are losing the connexion !!!! And SSID not showing on the printer anymore

Someting you'll need to contact the Mfr of these printers about and let them know that sleep mode seems to be a key factor here and waking the printers are not seeing any wifi. Sleep then wake should not cause the printers wifi radio to stop seeing wifi signals.

Apparently, it's a known issue this sleeping mode with many printers and routers... and the issue is mostly on router side.

I have assigned fix IP to both printers, and, for now, it's working

        Fingers crossed.
