No Release Notes at this time. I'll see if I can get some.
Download Link:
Firmware Update Instructions:
To update your product’s firmware, follow the instructions in your product’s user manual.
To find your user manual, visit https://www.netgear.com/support/,
enter your model number in the search box, and click the Documentation button on the product page.
If you manually update, be sure to update the RBS first, then RBR lastly.
NOTE: Update the RBS first, then the RBR lastly. After the FW files are loaded and the RBS and RBR are ready, power OFF the RBS and RBR for 2 minutes then back ON.
Unplug the power adapters from the power wall outlet.
A factory reset maybe needed if problems are encountered:

I'm a new user to this forum but have been experiencing the frequent wifi and wired disconnects with my RBR850 and 2 satellites. I thought it was a Spectrum issue for the longest time until I found other users experiencing the same. It's been driving my entire family insane, and I'm really hoping to fix this issue with a firmware update, but to be honest I am hesitant to install firmware on my router from a salesforce link not associated with netgear at all. I'm fine with installing beta, but why doesn't netgear have a page with beta drivers? Any idea on how long until this is officially fixed?
- FURRYe38Guru - Experienced User
That link is associated with NG.
No. NG doesn't let us know when new FW is forth coming.

This update finally fixed my problem with my wifi connection on my KS8000 Samsung TV. With previous official update, my TV couldn't connect via wifi..so frustrating either via DHCP or static using WPA2 personal. With this update, it's now connected. Will continue to monitor if it loses it's connection but for 2 days, it's working.
- FURRYe38Guru - Experienced User
Glad it working better. Be sure to save off a back up configuration to file for safe keeping. Saves time if a reset is needed.

Chiming in with my experience: So far so good. No more spontaneous rebooting, and everything that used to work still works.
[EDIT] PS: I got it from support directly. I suggest everyone do this. You can't trust that the salesforce link is real unless you got it from Netgear.

FYI, the link is official NG links. These come directly from NG. Just because it doesn't have netgear in the link itself doesn't mean its not netgear.

I have the RBR850 and RBS850 and am having the constant disconnect issue. I would like to try this firmware but that link looks to be only a .chk Windows file. Is there a version I can use for Mac?
- FURRYe38Guru - Experienced User
The .chk file is for the Orbi system, Windows or Mac doesn't matter and you don't open the .chk file. You send it to the RBS first the RBR lasty using the manual update process linked in the first post using a web browser connected to the RBS or RBRs FW update web page.

Thank you! I've installed 4.6.7.5 and power cycled my RBR850 and 2 RBS850. I've noticed one dropout in the first five minutes from 1 satellite. I'll give it some more time before doing a factory reset. Fingers crossed.

Upgrade done and full factory reset as well.
All is working smoothly with my 3 satellites.

Hi FURRYe38 ,
I have and RBR850 and 1 RBS850 Satellite. I have been having speed issues for few weeks now. I am on 1GIG connection which has dropped off to 90mbps second. This was not the case few months back. Should i upgrade to your suggested firmware which is in beta ? I am a newbie and would really appreciate some help. Please.

Hello !
I own an Orbi system and I have some of the problems that you mention in these posts that may be fixed by this future firmware upgrade.
ORBI RBR850 which is in AP mode (and DHCP) + 4 satellites RBS850 which are connected to the RBR850 with ethernet cables (Backhaul ethernet direclty wired to ports 1,2,3,4 of the RBR850). Everything is up to date with the latest official version (in France) which is V4.6.3.16_2.0.51.
My internet provider is Free (in France) using optical fiber (10Gb EPON) and the box is Freebox Delta (having an integrated router with 4 ethenet Gibagit ports).
The problem is that one satellite becomes not visible in the RBR850 admin basic homepage but visible in the "connected satellites" on the "attached devices" page (but not in the firmware upgrade page), Orbi iOS app is also able to see all satellites (but the one which is connected to RBR850 port 1 has nothing listed to connected to it, but in reallity it has some ethernet devices pluged in) and after a while it becomes the "disconnected", but still works if connected to Wifi backhaul (after resynchonize button operation). I realized that this satellite having issues is connected to port 1 of the RBR850, in the firmware changelog you mention here v4.6.7.5 there is a mention regarding this issue fixing on this port (whern RBR is in AP mode).
I very disapointed by french support because they asked me to make a lot of operations (resets, synchro, etc.) and they are not aware of this bug related to ethernet backhaul on port 1 and they have no idea about a new firmware release that may fix this. Why do some local support teams have not exchanges/communications with central NG support team ?
They just told me that I have return the whole pack (that costs around 2000 Euros) to amazon as I have until 31st January to be refunded.
I would prefer to give this product a chance and try this firmware upgrade (even if I'm afraid there are others problems to come with this one), but I'm not sure if it will cancel the guarantee if the firmware is not officialy released on NG download section (or in the RBR850 admin page)
Also, could you tell me if the satellites have also the same version of this new firmware, I guess the files are not the same for RBR and RBS.
I read that we should upgrade satellites first then the router, and restart everything one by one (router first).
- FURRYe38Guru - Experienced User
Yes RBS should have same version of FW and yes, if you update manually, update the RBS first using there web page, then update the RBR lastly. Once the RBS and RBR are back to ready, power them OFF for 1 minute or longer along witht he ISP ONT or modem. Then back ON with the ONT or Modem first, then RBR and the RBS.

As far as I know you can not have DHCP on in AP mode,
Reading this and your other questions gives me the hunch that using Beta-firmware might not be the best idea for you.
Since you have a full-wired backhaul, I would advice you to simply disconnect the satellite from port 1 on the router and connect it to one of the LAN ports of another (wire connected) satellite (wired daisy-chain). If you have the router port one issue that should solve it.
If it works it will be a fast solution and if issues remain or other issues appear you can at least send it all back without any difficult questions about Beta-firmware and where it came from.
It is an official release by Netgear, but you did not get it from their support and Netgear did not advice you to use it. It should work and you can use it, but it is Beta so it might cause issues.
If you have any issues remaining, you will never know if it is your hardware or the beta-firmware.
So if you feel you know what you're doing use this firmware if not then don't.
Good luck.- FURRYe38Guru - Experienced User
Also if you want to free up LAN ports on the back of the RBR, you can install a non-managed GB LAN switch on the back of the RBR and connect your RBS directly to this switch. This helps free up LAN ports on the RBR if needed for other wired devices.

I have a doubt regarding the pack that I have, it's a RBR850 and 4 RBS850 satellites
does it mean it belongs to RBK855 (having 1 routeur + 4 satellites =5) even if this pack doesnt exist in terms of marketing offer (only RBK854 is available)
In other words, is the firmware compliant only with the RBR850 and RBS850 only (but finally applies also to RBKxxxx being only a marketing grouped offer) ?
- CrimpOnGuru - Experienced User
This is correct. The RBR firmware is for the router. The RBS firmware is for any number of satellites.
- FURRYe38Guru - Experienced User
Means you added a additional RBS so you got a RBK854 kit + 1 RBS850 is all. Does NOT change to a RBK854 to a 855. FW is for any RBR850 and RBS850 with in any RBK Kit. RB(K) meaning Kit or whats included in the box which is a RBR850 and RBS850.

Other question regarding the available functionalities :
Is there a reason why we can't enable mac address filtering when in AP mode ? This is available only if I use Orbi as a router (not AP).
My ISP router allows the mac address filtering but only on its own WiFi network, so mine is disabled because I use Orbi now.

MAC Filtering is a ROUTER function, and since the Orbi is in AP mode, most of the ROUTER functions are disabled.

Ok that's what I thought, but by the past I had a Cisco Aironet access point, there was a security section were I had added some mac addresses, there were stored locally in the AP, that's why I wondered if that would be possible in Orbi products

Have an RBK853, usually setup in a daisy chain configuration due to the house shape being an extended L. RBR is Ethernet connected to the fibre router, and is configured as a router with double-NAT (hasn't caused any problems). RBSs are WiFi connected.
Was running the old production release (4.6.3.16?) until last weekend. It had been pretty stable in the past but the network connections were becoming intermittent so decided to upgrade to 4.6.7.5.
Installed it manually to the RBSs, rebooted them with a good 5 minutes delay, then the RBR, again with a reboot. Then for good measure rebooted the lot, started with the fibre router, RBR, then RBSs. This is how they're normally recycled and it usually works well. It did in this case too, and the installation was completed successfully.
The household is mostly Macs and iPhones. Some SONOS, smart TVs, etc.
My wife has a Chromebook for work. Whenever she starts it up, after about 10-15 seconds, both RBSs flash white, and stop working. The RBR is fine, and she can move to a different room, closer to it, and continue working OK. The only solution seems to be to recycle the setup again. But the problem is reproducible, and it happens every time.
Does anyone else have this problem with 4.6.7.5?
Or experienced it with the previous betas? It wasn't a problem with the production release.
Any ideas how to investigate and resolve this (I'm out of support)?
- rr20552ApprenticeFor those of you who are experiencing white flashing (reboots) on their satellites I have found that lowering the CTS/RTS to below the maximum of 2347 (i.e actually enabling CTS/RTS flow control) resolved my issue even with the previous official release.
I have mine set to 2304 and the satellites have been rock solid ever since.- FURRYe38Guru - Experienced User
Mine ran with the default CTS 64 for 13 days and saw no issues as well.

How very odd. Try "forget" the wireless network connection on the Chromebook and establish it again (i.e., force a fresh DHCP request). This will ensure that it is not creating an IP address conflict or something like that.

(Sorry I don't know how to quote the reply.)
Thanks for your response, Mikey.
I got back home from travelling and had a chance to try this on the Chromebook. It was still the same. Absolutely reproducible, 100%.
I've tried removing both the main WiFi network, and the Guest network, and retrying them.
Both networks resulted in the satellites flashing white when the Chromebook reconnected.

What is the size of your home? Sq Ft?
What is the distance between the router and 📡 satellite(s)? 30 feet or more is recommended in between RBR and RBS📡 to begin with depending upon building materials when wirelessly connected.I recommend installing FW to the RBS first then RBR lastly. After the FW is loaded on units are back to ready. POWER OFF the ISP Modem/ONT and RBR and RBS for 1 minute or more, then back ON with the ISP services, then RBR and wait for ready, then RBS one at a time. Then check and test the system. If problems are seen, then a full on factory reset and setup from scratch maybe needed.
If your ISP Modem already has a built in router and wifi. This would be a double NAT (two router) condition which isn't recommended. https://kb.netgear.com/30186/What-is-Double-NAT
https://kb.netgear.com/30187/How-to-fix-issues-with-Double-NATI ran 13 days with zero issues with v5 and RBS flasing anything.
Manual channels 1 and 40, 40Mhz only. CTS 64, RBS wireless and wired. 50% Transmit power on the RBR. Traffic Meter enabled set to no limit.

Not sure about the sq-footage, it's a rental. It's an "L" shape though, with the head of the L about 12-15m away from the heel, and the toe about 5m away from that.
All the radios are at 100%, the CTS is 64, it is 20/40 mixed. Most everything is default. I have traffic metering on, and all the logs are also on.
I've taken a debug capture of the network when the problem occurred. Maybe it would help if I sent this to someone?
There were interesting messages in a file called "critical_attach_log_tmp" at the time the satellites went down:

I installed this new FM, and now NOTHING is connected to my satelite on 2.4ghz and everything is on my router and it never did this before. What should my next steps be? I power cycyled everything after the FW updated and this is result. all channels are on and no setting have been changed.

That is what most of us are seeing. Try adjusting the power level, but alll in all Netgears implimentation of mesh, is currently not working will the most of us.

I'd reboot the RBR leaving the RBS online and see if any devices migrate to the RBS. It's up to devices to pick and choose where they connect too.
