Orbi Satellite RBSE960B Ethernet Ports Working Intermittently

Hello,

I am having a perplexing issue.

I am assuming the WiFi works well- my devices on the network can always get a WiFi connection, but I have 2 devices plugged into the satellite's ethernet ports and they both lose their wired connectivity every so often.

The only way to get them back connected is to do a reset on the satellite using a paperclip and then resync the satellite to my router.

Running the latest V7.2.6.31_5.0.24 firmware on my setup.

I purchased the system in 9/2022. Has anyone experienced this and is there a fix?

Thank you.

  • Just updating this, having my 960 series online, with RBS wireless and ethernet connected, anything connected behing the RBS have been stable and getting internet services. I have a couple of ethernet devices behind one RBS and serveral connected behind the other that feeds a basement residence. No issues claimed by the residence from the basement area.

FW is v.21 on my system. Working well.

What devices are connected to the ethernet ports on the RBS?

Using the 1Gb ports or the 2.5Gb ports on the RBS?

What CAT# lan cable are you using? CAT6 is recommended.

Has a power off for 1 minute then back ON with the ISP modem and router and RBS been performed since last update?
Be sure to restart your network in this sequence:
    Turn off and unplug modem.
    Turn off router and computers.
Plug in and turn on modem. Wait 2 minutes for it to connect.
Turn on the router and wait 2 minutes for it to connect.
Turn on computers and rest of network.

Hello. Thank you for your suggestions. I have a NAS in the 1g port and PC in the 2.5 g port. I restarted the network in the way you said. I came back a few hours later and the Ethernet connection is not working. The cables are both new cat6a. WiFi is working fine. There are no suspicious blinking lights on the orbi

Might downgrade the system back to v.21. v.31 seems to be problematic.

RBS first, then RBR lastly...you'll need to factory reset and setup from scratch after downgrading.

  • OK the actual solution to get Ethernet ports working reliably on this satellite is to login to the router at 192.168.1.1, go to the Advanced tab, then click the Advanced button from the menu column on the left side of the screen, then click VLAN / Bridge Setup, then click to turn on "Enable VLAN / Bridge Setup". Then click "By Bridge Group", then click to enable the check boxes for Port 1, Port 2, Port 3 . For some reason it doesn't let you enable all four Ethernet Ports (only 3 out of 4), but that's fine, I just have a Synology NAS and 2 other devices connected by Ethernet cables to the ports on the back of the Orbi satellite.
