RBK750 Series - Firmware Update v4.6.3.7

Hello Orbi AX Community,

We are excited to announce that we have started to roll out new firmware which enables NETGEAR Smart Parental Controls on RBK750 Systems. Customers with RBK750 series systems will get automatically updated over the next few weeks. Customers who would like to manually get the new firmware can do so via the Orbi app and the Orbi web GUI within the next week. We expect to rollout to complete to all RBK750 systems by mid-August. For customers with the RBK850 series systems, we plan to start rollout of firmware which supports NETGEAR Smart Parental Controls in the next few weeks.

NETGEAR Smart Parental Controls is an easy way for parents to manage kids' screen time, monitor, pause the Internet and promote healthy habits across connected devices. It is available in the U.S., U.K., Ireland, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Swedend, Denmark, Norway and Finland. We expect to have it available in more countries in the coming months. • So Netgear support called last night. They have sent me an updated FW. V4.6.3.16. So far it seems good, and my speeds are back to normal.

Will that FW also work with the RBK853?

Were can I get the FW v.4.6.3.16? I'm having many problems with v.4.6.3.9... All my 4 Satellites flashing colors all day long, disconnects from each other... slow speeds... I can't contact SUPPORT because they only give you 3 months free tech support and I don't wanna pay for something they screwed up with their last FW update...

      Any help is welcome.

      Thanks!

I suggest contacting Netgear support. Or the moderators here may be to help others. I am not sure about sharing here. (sorry that sounds selfish) I would be suspicious if someone here shared a file that could be malicious.

So after a few days on the updated version, my network seems better. Speeds are now normal for the service I have. My devices are more evenly spread out on my system (before, they were mostly on the RBR750). All and all, I think the updated FW fixed my issues. Also, I am sorry, but I don’t feel comfortable sharing the file NG support sent me. Please don’t message me privately. Reach out to FURRYe38 or one of the moderators instead.

  • After getting the beta firmware and installing per instructions, I can report that it did not do anything to correct my device connectivity problems.

I will be downgrading to V3 until Netgear can fix this major blunder.

Same here. Saturday , after installing the beta firmware is RBS and then RBB was fine till right now and has same issue of suddenly dropping some devices and not reconnecting till dona reboot. For now at least the beta seems to be not as bad and improved speeds. Lol
      The fun continues

        The fun continues indeed.

I had the RBK50 which worked perfectly for 3 years. Then I upgraded to RBK753 which worked nicely for 1 year - until v.4.6.3.7 that is!

To have a perfectly working system break for months (and still broken) due to a forced update is a particularly bitter pill to swallow. I'm sorry Netgear..it may be time to say goodbye..forever...

Has a factory reset and setup from scratch been performed since last FW update?
I would power OFF the ISP modem for 1 minute. Factory reset the Orbi router and power it off. Power ON the ISP modem and let it sync. Then power ON the Orbi router and walk thru the setup wizard again using a wired PC and a web browser.

Yes, factory reset was performed. I can see not difference in the behavior with the beta firmware. I'll be downgrading back to v3 later today. If Netgear can't get it together soon I'll have an Orbi system to sell soon and move on to a company that supports it's customers.

  • So I have the RBK753 combo unit from costco, in the last few months I noticed I cant download any updates from battle.net at all on my network (it works fine when I am plugged into the modem directly but if I download any updates from battle.net like for warzone mostly on 2 computers at once it crashes my modem and I have to manually reboot it to get it back up again)

I have one satalite with a wired backhaul and the 2nd one is wireless.

We have a computer room where we play cod warzone on 7 computers and updating them one at a time is really getting old and we would love a fix for this.... happens at my friends too with his 2 computers if he updates the game... didnt happen until just recently...

    What is going on here?

  • My experience with the V 16 upgrade is mixed and hard to understand.

As suggested, I powered off all my devices and let the nighthawk docsis modem sync up, and then repowered my main router, let it sync, then repowered the satellite.

I did not do a factory reset which the Netgear admin said was ok.

For about 10 hours, everything was great. Download speeds as measured by the Orbi app were back to 900 mb.  Thruput - both wired and wireless was excellent: 600 on wired connections and 400-500 mb on wireless.

Suddenly the wireless thruput as measured on the speed test dropped to 10 - 20 mb. The hardwired speed test had not changed.  The Orbi app still reported download for ~800/850 mb but there was just a trickle of data being pumped out of the system.

I have several wired devices (an Apple 4k streamer) connected to the satellite.  They were stuttering and buffering all over the place.

I checked the modem and the connection, SNR, and power levels were all nominal.  I do not think it was a provider issue.

I repowered the base station and the satellite - let everything sync up and now I'm back to 400 - 500 mb wireless.

    Does anyone have any thoughts?

Last point:  this was the behavior that the migration to version 4x initiated.
