RBK750 Series - Firmware Update v4.6.3.7
Hello Orbi AX Community,
We are excited to announce that we have started to roll out new firmware which enables NETGEAR Smart Parental Controls on RBK750 Systems. Customers with RBK750 series systems will get automatically updated over the next few weeks. Customers who would like to manually get the new firmware can do so via the Orbi app and the Orbi web GUI within the next week. We expect to rollout to complete to all RBK750 systems by mid-August. For customers with the RBK850 series systems, we plan to start rollout of firmware which supports NETGEAR Smart Parental Controls in the next few weeks.
NETGEAR Smart Parental Controls is an easy way for parents to manage kids' screen time, monitor, pause the Internet and promote healthy habits across connected devices. It is available in the U.S., U.K., Ireland, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Swedend, Denmark, Norway and Finland. We expect to have it available in more countries in the coming months. I have extactly the same problem after upgrading to the new V4 firmware, the Wifi constantly get disconnected, I have to reboot both the router and the satellite , and it prabably works for a few days and the Wifi became unstable again.
But I sucessfully downgraded firmware to V3.
The "Yes" buttom just got hidden. In the Windows Edge Brower (Chrome Core version), access the maual firmware update page and when you get the warning says downgrade to a lower version firmware. Press F12 to open the Debug page, and found the hidden button element next to "NO", and the " element.styledisplay: none" displays on the debugging window under "Styles" tab, remove the "none" and "Yes" will show up. Then click it to update the Firmeware.
But I still cannot find a way to disable the auto firmware update, I assume it will later update to V4 soon?- michsuApprenticeThanks for that. I was able to go back too. I found an easier way I think to find it. Top left button (Select an element in the page to inspect it). And click on the “No” button and then the “Yes” button is just right below it. Thank you again.
- michsuApprenticeWhen it rebooted unfortunately, It went back to 4.6 again.

DO you have a 2ndary around that you can use infront of the RBR? If you do, you could block the auto update feature with this router and prevent the update to v4. Until NG fixes this issue.

Genius move! Thanks for the tip!
Unfortunately, Netgear said they removed the option for a user to deselect 'autoupdate'...- gthiGuide
In order to prevent the router and satelites to auto update:
in Advanced Security, I blocked 2 sites in the firewall:
updates1.netgear.com
Now the router is unable to download the FW update as you can see in the log files:
[site blocked: www.updates1.netgear.com] from source 192.168.2.5 Thursday, Oct 07,2021 12:54:26
Auto update is impossible now!
Personally I managed to roll back to Firmware Version V4.6.3.9_2.0.50
Keep my fingers crossed the WiFi network is stable now
At the same I invested EUR 1800 in a high end wifi system finding myself in this situation. Pretty scandalous Netgear!
What a horrible shame this whole fiasco is. Those of us who had interrupted Zoom calls and time-sensitive work will find all of this hard to forget.
Support got back to me and provided a list of steps to downgrade the firmware. Before doing so, I asked how they'd advise me about preventing an automatic update back to the nightmare v4.6.3.7.
They replied that I cannot disable that feature. And so back to square one I am.
- titaniumrx8ApprenticeI've started a thread here in the Idea Exchange requesting the option to opt-out of unscheduled updates. Suggest everyone who agrees chime in.
https://community.netgear.com/t5/Idea-Exchange-For-Home/Stop-unscheduled-firmware-updates-in-Orbi-AX/idi-p/2129790
I also spoke with NG support about how they cannot kill our networks at their convenience since they have no idea what work they're interrupting. In 30+years of using Cisco and Linksys and then 5 years using Nighthawk, I never had an unplanned outage forced by the vendor. I'm supposed to have another call with NG on Monday. - scobooGuide
Thanks for your post!
I had the same response from Netgear support! They tried to assist with the f/w downgrade...but then mentioned that it will autoupdate!! CRAZY!!
- AggedwNGApprenticeSeriously scoboo.. I understand you're pissed like many of us are but you are blowing up everyone watching this thread. Contact NG support and voice your discontent like everyone else.
Netgear.. This is how you lose customers and you're about to lose a lot of them.. The ones complaining right now, are only the customers who pay attention or manage their hardware themselves. I'd suggest listening and getting that fw fix out with a quickness.. Undo the sneaky move you pulled with disabling manual fw downgrades and our ability to disable auto-updates, before you permanently damage your reputation in this market.. - jamacphotoApprentice
Ok had the, Router like all, autoupdate. must have ahppen last night as all my issue started when i woke up.
bought as Xmas and has been a dream since then, spent msot of the days trying all the statndard stuff and kind of worked for a bit or netflix seem to be not affect/ the least affected.
Tonight started to look here and reddit and as we can see no luck.
Sence i am a Production/support person and senior programmer i started to think liek that.
so i was like what if we jsut stop using the wireless netwrok and use the Guest network.
so i have had it onn all thsi tiem for a likke private conneciton for me office to the net. so nothign else on that.
so connected the Fire tv (that has been stopping every 10 or so min for 30 sec to a min and then starting again) and bingo watched a 60 min tv show on Britbox wiht no interruption. then watched a movie on Plex ( it was having same issue as same channel before) and now watched a movie.
do not want to jinx it but has been workign now for over 2 hours.
can noty gaurentee this will work for others but wanted to pass on this.
i will update if it starts to slow down and drop conneciotns liek before.
- Frustrated_NewInitiate
Whats's the official guidance from Netgear on this? While I want to love this gear, it's been nothing but VERY poor performance since I picked it up 2 weeks ago. I'm about to return it to costco and go with a competing product due to the slow performance, dropped wifi, etc on this firmware.
Is there an ETA on the fix?
- scobooGuide
I spent two hours today with a senior level tech at Netgear.
She used iStumbler app to identify that there are quite a few networks in the area of our residence that may be causing interference.
She changed the following:
orbilogin.net/start.htmAdvanced tab
Wireless Setup
Under Wireless Settings header:
change 2.4GHz Channel to "11"
change 5GHz Channel to "36"
This change has increased our wireless signal by 30-50%.
That said, Netgear engineers are continuing to monitor our devices in order to debug the issue with firmware V4.6.3.7_2.0.49.
The above setting change is a TEMPORARY solution. Hope it helps!
- FURRYe38Guru - Experienced User
Others have mentioned disabling AX mode and setting CTS to 2347 on the RBR has help bring stability.
NG is aware of these problems.
NG doesn't share if or when new FW will be forth coming.
Users can try this if they wanna downgrade:

Here is the latest update from my trying:
1. Downgrade the Firmware to V3.2.10.10 for both Router and the Satellite, which is the very first Firmware version. Using the way I mentioned in previous thread that pressing F12 in the downgrade page and unhide the Yes button.
This Firmware version has Telnet option on Debug page.
2. After that, perform factory reset on both Router and the Satellite.
3. Finish basic configuration, but DO NOT connect to internet yet.
4. Enable Telnet option on both Router and the Satellite in their Debug.html page.
5. Telnet connect to both devices, and ran the following:
nvram set auto_upgrade_enable=0
nvram set ver_check_https_svr1=http.fw.updates1.aaa.com
nvram set ver_check_ftp_svr1=updates1.aaa.com
nvram set ver_check_ftp_svr2=updates1.aaa.com
nvram set ver_check_ftp_svr3=updates1.aaa.com
nvram set lang_check_ftp_svr=updates1.aaa.com

nvram set ver_check_ftp_password=aaa@aaa
nvram set control_cloud_backend_fw_url=https://http.fw.updates1.aaa.com
nvram set promotion_server=updates1.aaa.com
nvram commit6. Make sure the above run on both devices.
7. Go to Managment page -> Advanced -> Security -> Block Sites :
a. Keyword Block set to "Always"b. Add the following key words:
http.fw.updates1.netgear.comupdates1.netgear.com
c. Click Apply.
8. Perform a Soft reboot from Advanced Home : -> Reboot -> Connect back to the Internet.
9. After that, my firmware update page showing this:
Status:
Router RBR750 RBR750 V3.2.10.10 Service unreachable
Satellite RBS750 Orbi Satellite-1 V3.2.10.10 Service unreachable10, I will monitor for a day or so to see if this works.

I presume #7 isn't needed as I've tried this before with out telnet config and it didn't work. I found that blocking just the two update addresses blocked at a upstream host router infront of the RBR did.
I presume the telnet config is whats doing it....
That version will not have the DNS fix in it though...

I did test on this, if we do not perform #7, the Router will still be able to detect the update.

Mark!! Thanks for the solution! Will try it out.
BTW in the upgrade page. there is no "submit" button. You need to F12 to web debug mode and set the display to "inline". The button will popout.

I wish Netgear would allow easily downgrading firmware instead of having to stand on your left foot while patting your head and reciting the alphabet backwards on the second Tuesday of the first full moon.
- They used to. They just don’t want you getting away from the new service they are trying to sell.

I am also having issues with this update. My RBS750 satellite now alternates between solid blue and flashing white. I believe it's continually rebooting. The RBR750 (router mode) shows that the wireless backhaul status is good, but I'm very dubious as it's never behaved like this before.
I attempted to downgrade the satellite to firmware 3.18, including resetting, but that hasn't worked. For now I'm leaving it as is, but this firmware is definitely glitchy.
- FURRYe38Guru - Experienced User
You sure the RBS didn't re-auto update?
You might downgrade the RBR as well....

I have been having strange problems with my Orbi for past few months, not sure if it matched change to latest firmware. I discovered that enabling the guest Wi-Fi network, apparently caused issues with my main Wi-Fi network - devices would connect to Wi-Fi signal, but there wouldn't be any internet connectivity. After suggestions on this forum, I disabled the guest Wi-Fi and now main now appears to be working properly.
The other problem I was having on the Ethernet wired portion of my network is that devices would just lose their connection to the network, and they would only reconnect after I did a power-off boot of the main Orbi router. Since I have that router mounted in the ceiling of my basement, a power off reboot was a hassle. One discussion led me to think that the IP addresses were getting messed up or lost, so I just went through a rather lengthly process of manually assigning the IP addresses in the router for everything on my network, rather than letting the router do it. Hadn't realized that there were so many things connected...
So far, that appears to have solved the problem I had been having with devices losing their connection to the wired portion of my network. It's too early to tell if that has solved my problems, but I'm hopeful I have saved a back-up file of the router configuration so hopefully won't have to create this all again.

Running an RBR750 and two satellites.Since upgrading to FW v4.6.3.7 have major connectivity issues between the router and satellites.
WiFi and Satellite Wired connections are significantly slower (somtimes over 200Mbps slower) than previously. Sometimes completely non responsive.
Purchased on 09/06/2020 @ Costco, worked perfectly until last month with update.
Internet connection from ISP works fine when plugged directly into computer reads 950Mbps up and down.
Satellites continuously seem to begin pulsating white, then may show solid Amber, Blue or Magenta for a time. Eventually begin to pulsate white again and repeat.
Have hard reset the entire system.
Have tried to rollback the FW to v3.2.18.1 - was succesful in the roll back on the Satelites, however, only temporarily. They keep auto updating back to the current.
Can't update the router to 3.2.18.1, when attempting to do so, there is no "Yes" button to click to confirm that I want to install an older version than the current unstall, only the "No" button shows up (tried in multiple browsers to verify).
I see I'm not the only person reporting these problems. Any update from NG on a coming solution?
TIA

ALL USERS of the 7 series Orbi AX system, please contact NG support by opening a support ticket and contact NG and ask them for the beta that seems to be avialable for the 7 series that seems to be directed to fixed what everyone with a 7 series has been having problems with:
https://www.netgear.com/support/#
For user out of warranty, contact Blanca_O and DarrenM and send them a PM and ask for the beta.
Good Luck.
- michsuApprenticeHi, can anyone send me a copy of the beta firmware? Thank you.
- TheobuckApprenticeJust a heads up also the FW release notes were recently updated ( Last Updated:09/03/2021 | Article ID: 000063818 )
The version looks the same.
https://kb.netgear.com/000063818/RBR750-RBS750-Firmware-Version-4-6-3-7
- TheobuckApprenticeNetgear support has no idea about a beta version.
- TheobuckApprenticeIf you call Netgear support, be ready to do troubleshooting you don’t want. I factory reset ( I explained it would not help, and it didn’t). Changed my DNS server (it didn’t help). Finally, I got to tier 2. They had me upload a ton of files, so now I wait. But still no beta version FW.

This seems to be a cluster. I am seeing throughout the thread that we should contact NG Support. Why are we being told to create all these tickets that cost money (which is sad that they charge so much) and this issue is ignored by NG? It is almost as if the moderators are getting everyone to create tickets to generate income for Netgear. There are some good work arounds in the thread, but this issue is a couple months old and a beta (that is very difficult to get) is the only possible solution.
Until this issue, I have always liked the Netgear line of products. And maybe because I have been lucky not to experience any issues with past devices (switches, modems, and routers) that I never had to look at the forums to see the rust under the shiny armor.
Is it too difficult for the moderators to post a link to the beta firmware?

Hello - I hope someone can help. I just upgraded to RBR753S from Costco from an Orbi RBR20. I've had many troubles with the new setup....
On first Install the setup failed so I did a factory reset and was able to finish setup of the Router and two satallites. I have about ~35 devices connected to my wifi network. I use a wired backhaul for one of my satallites.
Issue List
- I rebooted Router via the Orbi ios app. Now most of my devices are not connecting to wifi
- In the ios Orbi App the network map shows (sometimes show both satallites as wired connected to Router) but not always
- Clicking on one of the satallites to see the connected devices I don't see any connected to either satallite and only some devices show as connected when I click on Router from network map
- From the web admin page (routerlogin.net) and looking at the Attached Devices both Satallites show Backhaul Status as Out of Sync -I've resynced them several times now
- Some wireless devices like Ipad shows as wired connection (very odd)
- Lastly - the 1 year of Netgear Security that I get from Costco my router doesn't seem to recognize the subscription and wont let me do the trial either. I've spent time with NG support and they couldn't figure it out and said to call costco
Question:
What should be my next steps?Besides taking back to Costco and buy someother system?
Hardware Version RBR750 with 2 Satallites

What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too?
Has a power off for 1 minute then back ON with the ISP modem and Orbi system?
What is the size of your home? Sq Ft?
What is the distance between the router and 📡 satellite(s)? 30 feet or more is recommended in between RBR and RBS📡 to begin with depending upon building materials when wirelessly connected.
https://kb.netgear.com/31029/Where-should-I-place-my-Orbi-satellite 📡Is the one RBS connected via ethernet directly connected to the back of the RBR or is there a LAN switch in between?

Operation Mode RouterHi FURRYe38 here are the answers to your questions.
Modem: Motorola MB8611 (I own)
Internet Service provider: Comcast Cable (I get ~200MB download speed)
Home Sqr feet: 2800 sq ft two story
Router wired to Satallite1 (not connected via Lan switch) on opposite sides of house
Satallite2 is about 20-30 feet away from Satallite1 (on same side of house as Satallite1)
I've rebooted via software reboot and physical unplugging power to reboot all router and satallites (yes waiting more than a 1 minute)
