RBR850 not reachable after Firmware 4.6.8.2 upgrade attempt

Hi there,

I have an RBR850 set in AP mode and connected to 3 satellites. The Orbi Router (AP) and my entire network receives their addresses from my main VPN router.

My setup was working quite well with one of the satellites going in “Blue LED” every so often.  I read in the release notes of version 4.6.8.2 that this behavior is being addressed by the release.

I did first the firmware update to the satellites with no problem and then for the router.  It came back on and I have WI-FI across the house with no problem, however I can’t now reach the router via the App or through orbilogin.com…I also tried with a wired laptop directly to the router with no success. I can get an IP on this wired PC but can’t reach the router to verify if the firmware update was correct.

To note, I can ping and access the satellites with not problem and they seem to be working and connected to the router just fine.

Not sure how to fix this, maybe a hard reset and start from scratch?

Attached the message I get from the Orbi App.

Please your advice!

  • Just to report that a Factory reset did the trick.

    1. Held the reset button for 15 sec as indicated by others
    2. Connected a laptop directly to a LAN port
    3. Went into Orbilogin.com thought the browser
    4. Followed the setup wizard, set the wireless credentials as per my original setup
    5. Since this is not my primary router, went and set it up in AP mode
    6. Verified DHCP assignments were being done by my primary router
    7. Checked that my wireless devices were connected and opened the Orbi app in my phone
    8. Re-synched my satellites and checked in the web browser their status, one by one, close to the RBR unit
    9. Placed the satellites in their final positions
    10. Checked everything went up and connected through the house
    11. Made a backup of the setup
    12. Disconnected the wired laptop and went back in wireless
    13. All good but it took time!

Thanks to FURRYe38  and others for your help

  • Has a power off for 1 minute then back ON with the ISP modem and router been performed since last update?
Be sure to restart your network in this sequence:
    Turn off and unplug modem.
    Turn off router and computers.
Plug in and turn on modem. Wait 2 minutes for it to connect.
Turn on the router and wait 2 minutes for it to connect.
Turn on computers and rest of network.

      Thanks Fury,
I didn’t do these steps while upgrading the router. I will complete them and report back.

Hi, I tried the first approach as suggested with no result. I will proceed with a Factory reset as soon as I get some time.

        thanks again for the recommendations.
