RBRE960 Sony TV (Android TV OS) intermittent connect and disconnect

Since installing firmware V7.2.6.31_5.0.24 my Sony Bravia XR 55A95L "loops" connecting and disconnecting via WiFi.  It was working fine before the update.  The TV will connect successfully to the base Xfinity router via WiFi 6 but that is not my "home" network.  I have tried recycling the router and the TV.  I have tried using DHCP reserved IP and setting manual IP on the TV.

  • How many RBS are deployed?
What is the size of your home? Sq Ft?
What is the distance between the router 📡 and satellite(s)🛰️? 30 feet or more is recommended in between RBR 📡 and RBS 🛰️ to begin with depending upon building materials when wired or wirelessly connected.

Does this happen with the RBS turned OFF?
Does this happen with both wireless and wired devices?
What channel configurations are currently set on the router?

Has a power off for 1 minute then back ON with the ISP modem and router been performed since last update?
Be sure to restart your network in this sequence:
    Turn off and unplug modem.
    Turn off router and computers.
Plug in and turn on modem. Wait 2 minutes for it to connect.
Turn on the router and wait 2 minutes for it to connect.
Turn on computers and rest of network.

Has a factory reset and setup from scratch been performed since last FW update?

I will answer your questions but first note that my connection to the TV was working fine until the update.  So, I'm not sure how some of your questions are pertinent. But...

How many RBS are deployed? base router and 2 RBS
What is the size of your home? Sq Ft? 2 floors.  about 2300 Sq Ft.  Base is essentially placed middle of top (main) floor.  One BRS is in middle of lower floor.  One is in the garage (same level as top floor).
What is the distance between the router

       and satellite(s)

️? 30 feet or more is recommended in between RBR

       and RBS

The garage RBS is about 35 feet from RBR.  The lower floor RBR is about 15 feet.

The TV is about 13 ft from the RBR  with only one wall between them.  When the TV connects it connects to the RBR and never attempts to connect either of the RBS units.

️ to begin with depending upon building materials when wired or wirelessly connected.

Does this happen with the RBS turned OFF? I have not tried this.  Why would this have effected the connection when the firmware was upgraded?
Does this happen with both wireless and wired devices?  The Sony TV is the only effected device.  All other wired or wireless devices are working fine.
What channel configurations are currently set on the router?

Has a power off for 1 minute then back ON with the ISP modem and router been performed since last update? No, but note from original post that the TV connects to the base Xfinity router(and modem) without issue.

No.  But as note previously I have done a power off and on sequence.

A more detailed description of this "looping" behavior would be useful.

    • How long does a typical "loop" take?  (seconds? minutes?)
    • Does the TV display any messages during the process?
    • Does the TV ever appear on the Orbi list of attached devices? (even briefly)

Is Access Control enabled on this router?  If so, does the TV appear in one of the three lists of devices?
(connected, Allowed but not connected, Blocked but not connected)  If the 2nd and 3rd tables are very long and filled with devices which are no longer likely to connect (visitors, family, devices which have 'gone away') it might be useful to delete them and reduce the size of the tables.

Your intuition is correct that a Factory Reset of the system is not supposed to be required when updating firmware versions.  In this particular case, obviously "something has gone wrong".  If relatively little has been done to customize the system, then a Factory Reset has the potential of giving the system a "clean slate" at the cost of a small amount of effort.  On the other hand, if hours have been spent inputting definitions, setting up parameters, etc. then it is possible to do a "Quick Factory Reset":

    • Save a copy of the router configuration to a computer using the Administrative menu item, Backup Settings
    • Follow the usual steps to Factory Reset until the router reboots
      https://kb.netgear.com/31486/How-do-I-reset-my-Orbi-system-to-factory-default-settings
    • Use a computer/laptop connected to the router to open the web interface. (Ethernet connection is the easiest, but alas newer laptops are leaving out the Ethernet port)
    • Follow the configuration process but....
      • Do not change the WiFi credentials
      • Do not accept the offer to register the router, enable Armor, enable Smart Parental Controls, etc.
    • When you reach the page that offers choices: continue configuring manually or load a saved configuration,
pick the option to load a saved configuration
    • Browse to that saved configuration file and upload it.
    • The router will automatically reboot and all saved settings will be restored.  The hope is that whatever 'gunk' (technical computer term) was responsible for the problem will no longer be in memory.

I can do this process in under 15 minutes.
