12 hourly backhaul bounce

Orbi 870 Series
v10.5.20.4

1 Gateway with 2 Satellites

Every 12 hours the satellites bounce their WiFi backhaul connection to the gateway.

Tried the various suggestions I've found:

  1. Satellites get their IP addresses from separate DHCP server, lease now set to infinite
  2. hard set 2.4GHz channel
  3. avoiding DFS channels for 5GHz
  4. no wired backhaul
  5. removed/disconnected and readded the satellites

My assumption is that every 12 hours the mesh is performing some kind of renegotiation of its setup at which point the mesh bounces, takes 5 - 10 minutes to get itself going again.

Any other suggestions/advice?

I'm not sure what you mean by the backhaul bounces.

    what exactly is happening?

The 370-770-870 series are the first of the the wifi 7 series without a dedicated backhaul so I'm confused what you're referring to by it "bouncing" to the gateway?

By backhaul I mean that the satellites lose connection to the gateway as opposed to WiFi clients losing connection to the satellite.

Are front LEDs blinking on the RBS? White? Pink?

What is the size of your home? Sq Ft?

What is the distance between the router 📡 and satellite(s)🛰️? 30 feet or more is recommended in between RBR 📡 and RBS 🛰️ to begin with depending upon building materials when wired or wirelessly connected.

Don't know about square footage but 4 bed detached with an extension on the back. One of the satellites is probably a bit close but the other is probably at the 30 foot mark. Any reason that should cause a 12 hourly renegotiation? In-between times they work really well...

IF one RBS is too close, move it out to the 30 foot mark or farther, or try testing the system with just one RBS. Turn one OFF.

        Set channels 1 and 40 or 11 and 48.

Might factory reset the system and then setup from scratch as well. Follow this guide:

What happens if the DHCP lease is set for a more traditional time, such as 86,400 seconds (one day)?

Same issue, although the original lease time was shorter than a day so unrelated as if DHCP renewal caused it it would have been more frequent.
