Orbi 870 -and Disney+ problems
Hi,
I replaced my Fritzboxes with an Orbi 870 Mesh and since then I have not been able to use Disney+:
- Internet via Vodafone VDSL
- Draytek Vigor 167 as modem (nothing configured, just plugged in and PPoE set in Orbi)
- I have not configured anything else in Orbi, no Armor etc.
- Disney apps iOS/tvOS give me an error #93 (access blocked, e.g. due to VPN (which is not the case)).
- Login via browser results in ‘Sorry, an unexpected error has occurred. Please try again later.’
- I can start Disney without any problems on another Wi-Fi network or via mobile data.
Someone here in the community wrote that you have to set iPV6 to DHCP, another said you should turn it off completely – I tried both without success. I'm at a dead end. Trying everything is beyond my patience (turn off, wait 2 minutes, start up the modem, wait, start up the router...). So I hope you have a tip for me.
Best regards, Heiko
OK, here`s the solution: I called Disney and the friendly helpdesk added my IP address to my account. Now everything works fine - let`s see how long, as the IP is not a static one.
BTW - I don`t think that there could be a problem with the Modem ore double-NAT, as everything else works fine and doesn't show any signs of double-NAT.Thanks for your help - I will keep you informed, if anything changes.

Does putting a PC or device in the RBRs DMZ change anything?
What happens if you set the modem for PPPoE and it the modem handle the PPPoE connection, then change the RBR to use DHCP for the WAN side connection?
Are you using ISP detected DNS or custome DNS on the RBR?I would keep IPv6 disabled for now on the RBR.
What firmware version is on the Orbi system?

Some of those services don't play nicely with a double nat. The Draytek Vigor 167 is a modem/router combo device. you might try putting the Orbi into the vigor's dmz so its not acting as a router along with the orbi.

I didn't see any evidance of this model having a router built in:

On their overview page it states its a modem/router.
https://www.draytek.com/products/vigor167/
And its spec page shows it has managed features. I don't have one, so I can't play with one or log in, but it might be worth investigating.

OK here`s an update:
- using 8.8.8.8 and 1.1.1.1 as DNS -> same error
putting an Apple TV into DMZ -> same error
Netflix, Amazon and Apple TV work fine, btw...

Can you check with your ISP to see if this model modem doesn't have any router built in, if it does, then ask them to fully bridge the modem?

Interesting. Will be interested to know if Disney keeps working or not past a WAN IP address change. Something on there side may have been causing problems.

I think this problems are based on their attempts to avoid account-sharing. But I have no idea what could have triggered this when changing modem/router. There have certainly been changes to the WAN IP here in the past. We will see...

Maybe all Draytek or Orbi users are suspects :-)

Ya could be Disney and there security.
Ya but if "Netflix, Amazon and Apple TV work fine" then kind points to Disney as sus. :oP
Hopefully mostlly fixed for you. If it seems so, mark your thread as solved so others will know.
