RBE 970 Magenta Light
Running 970/971, latest firmware. Arris S34 cable modem. Purchased unit new last May, no issues until now. Sudden loss of internet with a solid magenta light. Checked modem, ISP, etc., to no avail. Performed factory reset a few times but could not ever get unit to pick up internet. Fails the “Checking for Ethernet and connection type” step every time. Swapped in a test 970 and everything works perfectly, so I don’t think it’s modem issue. What else can I try?
If you have the original system, then you should reach out to NG support and ask about RMA options on the original system that doesn't seem to work. Let them know since you tested a 2nd system and that works, seems that the original system is faulty and needs replacing. See what options are available to you for RMA.
Good Luck.

What version # of FW is loaded on the system?
If you get PINK on the front of the RBR, then usually means the RBR has lost connection with the ISP modem or modem is not giving good services to the RBR or there maybe a bad cable in the mix. https://kb.netgear.com/31030/What-do-the-LEDs-on-my-Orbi-mean
CAT6A STP is recommended LAN cable between the modem and RBR.
Been some users having issues with heat generation at the RBR. I keep a USB fan on top of mine 24/7.

FW v9.13.1.2
I don’t think it’s the LAN cable as I said I am currently running another 970 with all the same equipment, cables and all. Works fine. Just can’t seem to get the other unit to connect to internet.

When you're saying "you're running the other 970 without any issue," does that mean you're trying to run both at once on the S34?
If so, you can't.
While the S34 has 2x Ethernet ports, the vast majority of ISPs (not all) only support a single public IP address. Meaning they only support a single device connected to the modem. If you're already running one router, the othe won't work. Or if you've got a laptop connected and working, the other device won't work. So make sure only 1 device is connected to the modem.

Hello Greyskarr,
Welcome to the NETGEAR Community!
I understand that you are having issues with your syncing all the devices of your Orbi Mesh system. You also note that you use different a different 970 and it worked. The Orbi mesh system includes one router and multiple satellites based on the configuration ordered. If you ordered a kit this means you are replacing the router (RBE971), with your satellite (RBE970). Please ensure that you are connecting the router (RBE971) to your modem. The satellite (RBE970) can only be connected to the router. Connecting the satellite (RBE970) to the ISP modem will result in no internet access.
Best,
Kevin
