however - the latest firmware appears to be more stable and I have reverted to using the 2.4 band without any issues in 2 days. So solution may be in the firmware now.
I've updated to latest firmware; I'm still having the same flaky (non-existent) support for the 2.4 band. And worse, the Admin app and phone app aren't able to connect anymore. This device is GARBAGE.

100% Agree the RAX200 is garbage. Maybe Netgear should recall it. $100 routers outperform this thing
- allen_dJul 12, 2020TutorIt’s extremely reassuring it’s been months and not one peep from a Netgear moderator on this post. The RAX200 is literally the most expensive consumer router on the market. You would think it would be important to Netgear that it works as advertised.
I went back to the RAX120 and have had virtually zero issues other than slower 5gig band speeds at range. They are almost half what the RAX200 offered when it actually worked and didn’t randomly reboot or kick devices off or become completely unresponsive to the point I had to reset it.
I just can’t fathom how a company throws out what should be a flagship device, charges $4-500 MSRP and basically orphans it. (Offers no support and ignores any issues on their part)
I think the issues are very much chipset related and secondarily firmware.
I’ve seen and have had issues with other Broadcom tri-band routers; more specifically the ASUS AX11000 which uses Broadcom. Not glitchy to this point but to the point one of the 5gig bands were very inconsistent in speed, ping, latency, Nest cameras consistently disconnecting (only devices on the second 5gig band)
RAX120 has the Qualcomm chipset and has been phenomenal in overall consistency with performance.
Only complaint of it at this point is my two Apple TV’s won’t send or receive traffic after roughly 1-1-1/2hrs then I have to restart my Apple TV’s for it to connect.
New firmware came out and I changed the 5gig to 80Mhz wide channel from 160. This has appeared to resolve this issue.
Overall... I’m very upset with Netgears response; or lack of, for a $500 router. Very disappointing to say the least.
Hope someone from Netgear reads this thread and tries to offer some confidence in identifying issues with their products lately.
