RAX10 / AX1800 - Parental control broken / Device traffic history empty
I purchased this router a few months ago, paid for the parental controls system, and had parental controls all working as expected.
A few days ago, I noticed the kids were using the internet more than expected - and having a look at the parental control system, it now looks broken.
All devices are showing "Zero usage" in Nighthawk for the last week, even though the history tab has correct and ongoing usage. I don't know if this is the reason the parental controls have broken, as even disabling devices doesn't seem to work properly, nor does the nightly cut-off time.
I have since made sure the router and Nighthawk have been updated to the latest, but thats made no difference.
If I can find the original firmware this shipped with, I will try downgrading.
It was working until the start of February, and it hasn't worked since.
Tried downgrading the firmware. Didn't help.
Put the firmware back to the latest, reset to factory defaults, reconfigured everything ... and it seems to be working now.
Although i'm glad this is now working, it was super annoying, and beyond the skills of the average user to triage and fix this. I hope this is a one-off, will probably be turning off auto firmware updates now :P.
Thanks everyone for the help!

Try here:
Circle Smart Parental Controls
or
NETGEAR Smart Home Parental Controls
While many questions about routers are generic and could be answered anywhere, some things need specialist knowledge. In your case, the RAX40 doesn't have much in common with the DSL Modems & Routers covered here.
You might get more help, and find earlier questions and answers specific to your device, in the appropriate section for your hardware. That's probably here:
Nighthawk Routers with WiFi 6 (AX) - NETGEAR Communities
In the meantime you could visit the support pages:
Support | NETGEAR
Feed in your model number and check the documentation for your hardware. Look at the label on the device for the model number.
You may have done this already. I can't tell from your message.
I mention it because Netgear stopped supplying printed manuals and CD versions some years ago and people sometimes miss the downloads.- TheShamsGuideThanks, there was at least one post there that sounded like my issue. The solution seemed to be a factory reset, which I presume would downgrade the firmware to the version originally supplied with.
I'll hopefully have time to try this out tonight, and will report back.- michaelkenwardGuru - Experienced User

I have the same problem. Parent controls worked for about two weeks and now it shows 0 minutes even when they are on their devices. Did you figure out how to fix this problem?

I had to perform a factory reset, which wiped the configuration of the parental control system. Once it was setup again, it has been working fine since.
