C3000 Printer to USB
Hello, and thanks for any help in advance.
I have a C300 (N300) Wifi Cable Modem Router. It has a USB port. I also have a Brother (HL-L2300d) printer, that is NOT wireless itself, and instead needs to be connected to my computer to print via USB (wired).
I am wondering whether there's a way to connect the printer to the C3000 through the USB port, and then set up wireless printing. I know other Netgear models support this feature, but I can't find a straight answer as to whether the C3000 has this capability. I've searched through the manual (which does reference being able to connect a "printer," but then doesn't say how), and I called customer service (who told me that it is possible, but that I had to pay $90 for an extended warranty, and then they would take over my computer - no thanks).
For what it's worth, when I connect the printer to the router, the USB light on the front of the C3000 doesn't light up, and when I go to http://routerlogin.net and sign in, it doesn't show anything connnected to the USB port. My firmware for the C3000 is up to date, and the drivers for the printer are installed. The printer DOES support this feature, as other reviews on Amazon for the printer indicate.
Thanks in advance!

Hello Ace06 The USB light will not be lit if a printer is connected.
You may want to see the instructions here on how to configure the ReadySHARE Print.By the way, make sure that the printer is working first when directly connected to a computer.

Elaine - It should would be helpful if Netgear would bother to put this information in the manual rather than leave us to wonder about it and have to search the interenet for the information.

I have the same problem, with my new model C3700 (N600) CABLE MODEM/ROUTER.
I downloaded and installed the READYSHARE Control Center, but it does not see my USB printer.
I spent days getting the runaround, from Tech Support, and they wound up telling me, that my modem does not support a Readyshare printer. I think they were just trying to get rid of me because they couldn't solve the problem!
Does ANYBODY have a working printer, on my model mdem/router?

Hello Easy Rider
According to the product sheet and the manual this device only has the basic readyshare feature of hooking up a usb drive to the modem to share files does not have the Readyshare printer functions.

That's funny, because, on Pg. 33 of the User Manual, it says:
"The USB port on the modem router can be used only to connect USB storage devices like flash drives or hard drives, or a printer."
Somebody should update the manual!
