Thanks for the message. I didn't set up MAC access control so any suggestion on how I can turn it off?

What's the model of your router?

I'll give you the full setup. I have theCM600-100NAS connected to Xfinity. The ethernet output of the CM600 goes to a NETGEAR N750 Dual Band Wi-Fi Gigabit Router that is configured to be the DHCP server for the LAN (WNDR4300) . I also have a NETGEAR N600 Dual Band Wi-Fi Range Extender - Desktop Version with 4-Ports but it's not being used for the PC i'm running the test on.
I'm set up for port forwarding from the WNDR4300 to an HP Laptop, added the WiFi password but otherwise left all router settings at default and loaded the latest firmware.
I ordered the WNDR4300 because when i got the CM600 i tried to use it with an older N150 router (WPN824N) and i could see the WLAN error in the log each time i tried to test if the port was open on the laptop using canuseeme.org. The webpage sees the WAN IP address but never tries to forward and records the MAC WLAN error which my net research shows indicates a possible hacking attempt. I had port forwarded before I ordered the CM600 (had modem/router combo's) but now that i have a pure modem i can't get the router to work.

On the WNDR4300, the access control settings are found under ADVANCED > Security > Access Control. If it's turned on, try turning it off.
Can you provide the exact text of the MAC WLAN error? Feel free to obscure the actual MAC address.

I will try to turn that off and get the exact error text. I'm not going to be at the router until Tuesday so i will post then.
