Hissing sound
My router was silent for 6 months but now has a hissing sound with wi-fi.
(It also drops the ISP, but that is probably a separate issue)
Google reveals: "...when you have a 'hissing' it's usually a capacitor leaking inside the unit".
Regardless, my router is past the Amazon return deadline. Might an RMA be possible?

This happen if you turn OFF the wifi radios?
- CJ_MAspirant
Turning off the radios did eliminate the sound.
It also made it couldn't use wifi and had to reset my system. (I assumed my info would be saved and I could easily revert back to radios "on".

The wifi radios should be disabled or re-enabled by the front button press.
Id open a support ticket and see what NG can do for this...

I give up on Netgear. What a time-suck this has been.
And I'm out $350 on a 8 month old unit.
Customer Service did what I wrote below.
Thanks to those in the community who offered help.
I did everything I should, but still lost.
Moving on.

I'll ask about getting a review on this for you.
In mean time, do you have a different modem or a spare router on hand? You can continue to use the modem portion of the C7800 with the wifi disabled and connect up a different wifi router system. Couple of options would be to use the modem in router mode with the radios disabled and conenct up a different wifi router in AP mode to provide wifi signals or configure the modem for modem only mode and connect up a external wifi router to the modem and run this configuration.
Hopefully someone from NG can figure something out for you.
