How do I hook up phone line
I'd like to know if there is a work-around for this, like a VOIP adapter perhaps? I have cellular only phone service but my ISP has a landline phone number delegated to me. I need to have a landline phone for a Lifeline emergency device and need to do something soon. Any thoughts? I know this thread is over 6 years old.

You need a modem that supports voice and phone line capabilities. Only NG CM series with the (v) in the model number have this ability.
Or if you can support VOIP devices, then you would need just a external router and a VOIP phone device.
Again, something to contact your phone/ISP serivces about. They will know how to help you out.

I would start by calling the ISP and asking, "What do I need to install to use the landline phone number you have assigned to me?"
