Netgear Nighthawk 5ghz WiFi not uploading files

I have seen multiple threads about CAX80 Netgear Nighthawk not allowing people to upload files on 5g WiFi, I am also having this problem. I recently “upgraded” my modem to this device. I am only able to upload files on 2.4g. If I turn on my VPN, then I am able to upload on 5g. I can’t just run on 2.4g because the speed is awfully slow and downloading files takes a bit of time. I handle about 50 files a day downloading, then uploading. Switching back and forth is not productive at all.

Does anyone have a solution to this issue?

What FW is loaded on the CAX80?

v5.x is most current version and is supposed to resolve that I believe.

What ISP is the CAX80 connected too?

What wifi devices are connected to 5Ghz? Brand and model#.

    Is Smart Connect enabled?

What channels are you using for 5Ghz?

    Is MIMO enabled?

Does problem happen if you diable AX mode on 5Ghz?

I was having the same problem on both my 2015 MacBook Pro and my 2022 Mac Studio M1 Max. On both devices, upload speed tests indicated fast speeds, and uploading files via gmail was fast. The issue was happening with file attachments on both Slack and Apple Mail on both devices. Anything over ~80kb would fail.

    As to FURRYe38's questions:

What FW is loaded on the CAX80? V5.1.1.8

What ISP is the CAX80 connected too? Xfinity

What wifi devices are connected to 5Ghz? Brand and model#. See above

    Is Smart Connect enabled? Yes

    What channels are you using for 5Ghz? 36 (P) + 40 + 44 + 48 + 52 + 56 + 60 + 64

    Is MIMO enabled? Yes

Does problem happen if you disable AX mode on 5Ghz?  NO

In short, I had AX mode enabled; turning it off fixed the problem for me. I included the other info in case it helps someone else.

    Thanks FURRYe38!

Thank you for adding this information. I hope it is helpful for anyone having this issue. I set everything the same as yours and still have this issue.

UPDATE: Unfortunately, disabling AX mode only worked temporarily. As of this morning, Slack and Mail file attachments are failing to upload again. 🙁
