Nighthawk X4S D7800 Address Reservation not working
I have recently bought the X4S and can't get the address reservation to work.
I have read that NETGEAR have issues in the past for other models.
Is there a solution for the X4S?
Details
Firmware: 1.0.1.16
i have tried a factory reset after upgrading the firmware.
I have rebooted both the router and the relevant devices.
I have disconnected all wired devices to ensure no other DHCP server is running.
i have switched the router for my old Billion router and that assigns IP addresses as expected.
I do not want to rely on assigning static ips on each device - a router of this price should not have any problems with assigning static ips.

I have a solution:
It appears that the reservation addresses must be within the DHCP range.
This is different to other routers that insist the static ips are outside the DHCP range.
I have connected numerous devices to the router and the reserved ips in the DHCP range are skipped when assigning dynamic ips.
The static ips are assigned correctly to the devices as well.

I've got exactly the same issue!
I'm still waiting for a fix as several of my devices require a specific IP and fixing it within the router is the best option, except the latest Firmware has broken it!
I've tried everything to fix it, but am now aware it's the firmware that's at fault!
Also the 5Ghz band keeps losing data transfer on several of my devices then magically gets it back again
Please Netgear release a new firmware that fixes these issues, I paid enough for this router, I expect alot better from you.

I, I would like to buy the D7800 but I have 3 issues:
1) Does the IP address reservation work? On the D7000 the bug has been fixed;
2) few users reported loss of communication with NAS permanently connected hard wired to the D7800. Do you have experienced any problem?
3) I need port forwarding. Does it work?
Anything bad still to note?
Thank you
Cesare
- Gaz77aAspirant1) Yes it does. You just have to ensure your reservation ips are in the dhcp range.
This is different to other routers that must have the ranges not overlapping.
2) I have had some issues with AirPlay devices attached. I haven't confirmed if it is an issue with the router.
3) port forwarding appears to work.
4) The wifi performance and range is excellent- Cesare_Aspirant
Thank you. Much appreciated.
What firmware revision are you using?
Are you having any benefit from the MU-MIMO?
Have you tryied the Opme VPN?
As I need to buy a new router now, would you go for it or is there any drawback? My only alternative would be the D7000 as I have seen that with a specific firmware revision the 3 items of my revious post are working fine.
Bye
