  • I was having the same problem and I just checked the box next to "Disable port scan and DOS protection" in the "WAN Setup" tab.  I tested using Open Port Check Tool at canyouseeme.org and it is now seeing my forwarded ports.  I am a novice so I would apprciate to know if this is going to open me up for other more serious problems.  Thanks.

Did you ever get an answer on the WAN setup option?

I did not receive a response.  I'm still unsure about the ramifications of bypassing the port scan in WAN setup.  Doing so did fix my port forwarding problem though.

  • After spending 2 hours on the phone with netgear they determined my unit was faulty. Sent me a new unit same problems. No readyshare access outside my home network, no dmz, and no port forwarding. What a joke this device is. Very disappointed. Will look to other vendors in the future to meet my networking needs.
  • TO ALL WHO HAVE BEEN AS FRUSTRATED WITH THIS ISSUE AS I HAVE! I GOT IT TO WORK!

After over an hour on the phone and repeated attempts by netgear customer srevice to sell me an upgraded service package to include 3rd party devices that I did not need, I finally got it resolved.

Under Setup in Netgear Genie, go to WAN Setup and look to see if the box that says "Respond to Ping on Internet Port" is checked. If not, check it and hit apply.

This fixed my issue. ONE FREAKING Check in an option box. Netgear tried to sell me extra service multiple times and I had to ask to speak to a manager before they asked me to look and see if the box was checked. This should be the first response, instead of asking you for your credit card. IT TOOK ME AN HOUR! It is a 5 minute fix at most. This type of blatant cash grab has left a sour taste in my mouth over the true intentions of this company. However, the product now works as it should. I do not plan on buying any Netgear products in the future.

      Hi

      Thanks for your Suggestion..

I just made the change to the respomd to internet ping in the WAN Setup as suggested above..

IT DID NOT RESOLVE THE PROBLEM!!!

On Port 80 It gors to the Router Management Scree n instead of my running Apache Server

RDP simply does not respond (No forwarding on port 3389)

FTP also will not connect (No forwarding on port 21)

IS THERE A SOLUTION FOR THIS???

One would think NetGear would know how to make routers and not sell this rather expesive boat anchor....

What is the recomendation..  Trash this device and get a new one??

      Thanks for any help

      Chhers

      John
