Putting N300 in "router only" mode with a Comcast Arris TG862 Modem/Router
I want to connect a Netgear N300 (model C3000) to a Comcast Arris TG862 router/modem/gateway that has very limited wifi coverage.
I need to put the Comcast modem/router in "bridge mode" to off ...

I did some more research on the N300 unfortunately it cant be used as just a router/AP so the only way you could use the wireless off this modem is to make it modem for your comcast connection. Sorry that didn't work.

Darren,
Unfortunately, I could not connect the N300 (C3000) to the Comcast TG862 modem router in bridge mode. I found the "router only" setting on the Netgear device, thanks to your screenshot and made on other changes.
The Netgear router simply was not getting an Internet signal from the Comcast device with the ethernet cable connect port 1 to port 1. I tried EVERY combination of ports, e.g. 1 to 1, 4 to 1, 1 to 2, etc. And half the times I couldn't even get back into Netgear setup screen.
My guess is that some other settling has to changed to tell the Netgear N300 that it should expect to find the Internet signal on port 1. (This device only had two ports and one coax connection.)
Incidentally, I am easily able to connect a WNR-2000 Netgear router to the Comcast modem/router in bridge mode, and that works fine... but the range isn't the best. So the Internet signal is coming through port 1 of the Comcast modem/router.
Any ideas now of what to try? (Note: I will not be able to test this again for a month, as my friend won't be home.)
Thanks,
EDgar

Thanks, Darren, (even though it is bad news).
