Doesnt work
Wow. I am very dissapointed and angry. Netgear has the absolute WORST customer service. I have a really expensive modem and router (router is **bleep**.. doesn't do anything it says it does)... lots of packetloss.. like a LOT - NOT my ISP at all.
So my solution is powerline. I have the PL1000 V2 (bought 2 hours ago).. go to set it up 3 green lights on both. I checked the internet on my PC and it said, "Identifying - No Internet." Ive been on the phone for 45 minutes, finally get someone to answer (have airpods in so I didn't click it), i hear people in background for maybe 3 seconds and it instant hangs up.. RIDICULOUS!
So all 3 lights are on but the third goes out on both of them within 30 seconds of them having power..
Tried factory reset many times..
both are connected to outlet..
I have my bad wifi connection still but ethernet doesnt work..
Restarted modem and router..
restarted pc
tried multiple plugs for my powerline..
Why netgear?

If I cut out the rant that clutters up your message, does this extract summarise the problem?

I find that the best way to get two plugs to talk to one another is to have them close to each other. Then, when I have confirmed that they work together, I move the "remote" plug to where I want it. The movable plug will remember its settings when it restarts in the new socket.
What is connected to the "remote" plug. Is that the PC that is telling you "Identifying - No Internet."
If so, that message may have nothing to do with the Powerline plugs. You have connected the PC to a new network. If this is a Windows PC it may be trying to protect you. If so, then you may have to tell Windows that you are on a "Private" network.
Can you unravel this bit?

There is a Quick Start guide for the device somewhere at the end of this link:
>>>> PL1000 | Product | Support | NETGEAR <<<<
That will tell you what each light means.

Well, if the third LED going off is the Link Quality one (with a magic marketing "Pick a plug LED" name) an Ethernet connection can's be established over the powerline adapters.
Typical cause are powerline adapters not configured to the same network name/network key, very different electrical circuits, lots of power cable extensions and distributors, ...
- kateawptonAspirantOkay, sorry I’ve just had so many issues with my netgear and have spent around $700 trying to fix it and it’s the same bad connection I’ve had for a long time.
The third light is the power plug thing where it is different colors based on speed.
I plugged one into the wall next to my router and connected the Ethernet into the router (tried multiple ports) and all 3 turn on Green. I went to my room in the other side of the house and plug in the second one and plugged it into my pc.
It gave the unidentified message so I tried the security button.. didn’t work
I tried factory resetting both.
I tried setting up the main one (in the router) then the next one in the same room. I moved it back to my room and didn’t work. I went to the sleep for the night hoping for a response.
When I woke up I went to turn off my computer and it was connected to WiFi but the Ethernet changed.. it showed the name of my router but still said no internet. What suggestions do you have? The bottom light that shows the best speed will be green and then turn off shortly after. When I was getting ready to leave I saw a red light in the bottom on both (pc was already off). I didn’t have time to check so I checked and saw your reply and wanted to inform you.- kateawptonAspirantSorry it’s called Pick a Plug (that’s the third one)
