Netgear PLP2000 mangement help
I am extremely frustrated. I want and need to verify they are setup securely. I cannot even find the ip to log in as my Nighthawk RS700 does not even show the power line adapters. Netgear also does not have a utility either any more. What gives Netgear? Why are these being sold with no support?

Re: Powerline PLP2000 management help - NETGEAR Communities
No matter, the answer is the same. There is nothing you can do to a Powerline plug that affects it security. It is essentially a dumb wired connection. The router does all the security stuff.
Read that answer for more details.
At least this question appears in the right place.
I cannot even find the ip to log in as my Nighthawk RS700 does not even show the power line adapters.See above. The plug has no IP address.
Netgear also does not have a utility either any more. The management utilities for other brands will work on Netgear plugs.

Frustrating is to find people are cluttering all around the community, instead of sticking with the original subject. Especially after we have answered before.
From wally brain, there exist currently some 3765 Ethernet Frame types as of writing, the most popular in use (daily for many) are Internet Protocol Version 4 (IPv4), Address Resolution Protocol (ARP), Reverse Address Resolution Protocol (RARP), Internet Protocol Version 6 (IPv6). Does this ring a bell or show a light that there is another "life" outside of your IPv4 LAN world? For example HomePlug 1.0 or IEEE 1905.1 which might be in use by the chipset vendor.
- I cannot see my two adapters listed or ip addresses for them. Running latest firmware on RS700 any advice?

Unless I'm very wrong, the PLP2000 is a pure L2 device, not getting an IP address from your router (here the RS700), so it won't become visible as a connected device.
It's a little bit different with the Powerline devices with the built-in WiFi AP (for example PLW1000) where the AP part does get an IP address by DHCP (over the powerline connection) from the connected router / DHCP server. pure powerline system, e.g. a pair (or more) PLP1000 or PLP2000 will remain invisible to the pure IP based "logic" for discovering and enumeration of connected devices.

Netgear also does not have a utility either any more.Yes. That's annoying. But there isn't much that you can control, so there is very little need for a utility. Netgear is just being lazy. It seems to be pulling out of Powerline technology just as it did with DSL modems and ReadySHARE storage.
For anything you can control, you will find that these things are pretty well industry standard. So, if you want to do anything, track down the utility for a rival brand and use that. ZyXel used to fill the bill.
Netgear does have a useful utility that can show your Powerline devices. It is the Netgear desktop genie.
Netgear is trying to kill this useful utility, but for the time being you can find it here:
genie | Product | Support | NETGEAR
Be warned that the genie installation file is wrapped up in a RAR archive that you have to decompress.
