PLP1200 Basic Questions

I purchased my first PLP1200 kit and it seems to be working well. One adapter connected to FIOS modem; One adapter connected to PC on the opposite side of the house. Wifi connection to this PC has been unstable at best. Here are my questions:

1) If I purchase another PLP1200 kit. Do I now have 2 new adapters that can be used on 2 other devices (PS4, another PC, etc.) or is one specifically set to be connected to the modem/routher?

2) Should I wait until I have all devices connected before running through the security setting protocol or do I secure each new adapter as I add it?

3) Do I need to set up any additional security for any wifi the adapters may be using?

Thanks in advance,

Paul

  • Hi paulzila,

1.) You can use the kit as new adapters for your devices. You can only use one adapter connected to the router and the rest will be the receivers.

2.) If you have set up the security protocol already you can just press again the security button on the 1st powerline then press the button on your new powerlines.

3.) I am not sure what security you are referring for WiFi since the adapters are used for wired devices.

      Hi JamesGL,

Thank you for your response. Regarding the wi-fi, I thought I saw somewher that it uses the wifi for IP selection and wasn't sure if I needed to do anything. I'm picking up my second pair this evening.
