XAVB5601 problems

1. Why is there no support page for the XAV5601 (or the 2-kit, XAVB5601)??

2. Just installed this kit. Speeds are good, connection is made around 350 Mbps according to the Powerline utility. BUT, the connection drops every now and then. When I'm surfing the web, Google Chrome sometimes says 'Sending request..' and after a while I get to see a DNS error. My modem/router (192.168.0,1) isn't reachable as well. This takes a minute and then the connection seems to work again. This is unworkable .. any hints?
Tried reproducing this, thought it especially happened when they just 'woke up' but it also happens when they've been operating for a while.
I didn't have this problem with a network cable / wireless.

  • Well another call done - probably to the most helpful person I've spoken to yet! (Joe ID #46042)

He's chased down my PMR and RMA and assured me that the UK RMA centre should receive my replacement for onward shipping by the 10th September.

He's going to call me on the 11th/12th to check if I have had my replacement or now.

I might have found a solution to the problem. Open the powerline software, click (or was ir right click?) on the icon for the powerplugs in the upper left corner. Choose Quality of Service (QoS) uncheck "VLAN tags" apply changes.

This seems to have worked for me but still to early to say anything conclusive. I'll post back in a week or earlier if any problems occur.

Issues are back... Sorry for crying wolf. I wish someone from Netgear could have taken a look at this.

      Hello all

I do also have exactly the same issues as all of you.

I have 2 of these adapters, same issue.

When I replace the adaptapers, on the same power socket (I've tried other socket also), with one of Devolo AV500+ or Netgear XAV5501, no issue at all.

Have you found a solution to fix these consistent drops ?

I found a link to dowload the firmware, but the Neatgear team "forgot" to attach the file in the page !

      XAV5601 Firmware Upgrade Utility 2.0.0.0:

      thanks

  • Same problem - XAV5601 firmware update utility link actually downloads the one for the XAV5501.

Still the same. Come on Netgear. Looks like a simple HTML coding error. Could your support site please point to the correct file?

Still no answer after almost 1 month...how about some support, Netgear?

      Hello

I'm also so disappointed by James who was very helpful and then disappeared...

I'm so disappointed by Netgear that I bought two other plugs, Devolo obviously ! No problem ! A 15 years customer lost for Netgear because of their lack of support, what a pity !

I would be very happy anyway to be able to use my Netgear CPL again one day or another, should somebody from Netgear do his job and post the correct firmware !

      Hi All,

I apologies for the long wait. When a new XAV5601 firmware is available, a firmware upgrade tool will be posted on the NETGEAR website.

        Thanks for your update

What a pity that Netgear has not done anything...maybe some others, as I did, have moved to another brand, ie Devolo

My couple of adapters are well stored...waiting for a sign of good will from Netgear to come back to life
