I am trying to create a hotspot on windows 10.
I am failing to create a hotspot on windows 10.
Server: PC, win10 A6210 card
Client Any android device, Nexus 6
Either the client device never gets an IP address or it connects, no internet.
I have tried with 3 different 3rd party "wifi routers"
I have tried with CMD commands. "netsh wlan start hostednetwork, etc..."

ALSO, the card wont work(properly) with the 2 win 10 drivers (1.0.032 & 1.0.0.34)
It does better with the generic win10 driver.
Also tried the Mediatek driver (USB (RT2870/ RT2770/ RT307X/ RT2070 RT357X/ RT3370/ RT8070/ RT5X7X/ MT7610/ MT7601/MT7612U))
to no effect

Hi realdead_man,
Is your issue resolved already?
- realdead_manApprentice
Welp.
Win 10 anniversary (1607) update breaks WIFI HOTSPOT
Nothing I can do to make it work again short of a version rollback.
PS
Netgear has THE **bleep**est drivers I have EVER tried to use.
Always get some kind of error, preventing installation.
- Amit223AspirantI have the same issue. It is the driver version being installed. 5.01.16 works, but stops working with 5.01.22. I tried to look for the 5.01.16 to install it on top of the version but am unable to
- realdead_manApprenticeThe neWest driver installs properly now. X.XX.35 I think
That driver does not work properly though. (For adhoc wifi hotspots) - realdead_manApprentice
Still using the windows generic wifi driver and windows 10 1511.
Windows ann edition breaks hotspot creation.
Netgear drivers (any version) break hopspot creation. - realdead_manApprenticeIf you are runnin win ten anniversary edition or better, nothing I have tried will make it work. Including connectify.
But Connectify is decent software. Had better, had worse.- nescogearAspirant
So "hotspot" is working for you by using Connectify Pro and Windows 10 (1511)?
I wasnt even able to install the latest Netgear driver on top of 1511.
Says device not found, during driver installation, and after being prompted to insert the A6210.
Same as installing it on 1607.
I thought about installing Linux, untill I noticed its not supported. Let alone 802.11ac, let alone creating a hotspot.
One of the reasons why I chose this particular Netgear model is I had gotten the impressonion that its decently supported.
Hell it supports Windows 10, and some of competing hw does not.
Alas it seems I bought a decent piece of hardware with the sketchy software support. Then again its Mediatek chip, what did I expect.
- realdead_manApprenticeYea. Use 1511, and generic windows driver, eventually...it will work. Also...I found a new solution to try for anniversary edition. It involves "Drastic reg changes" wooo. Scary.
Something about deleting " HK local machine forward slash system Ford slash current control slid forward slash Services Ford / wlansvc Ford / parameters Ford / hosted network settings - realdead_manApprenticeIgnore my attempt to soeech to text the reg key above. Lol.
Let everyone know if it works for me.. .probly this weekend, Jan 30ish - realdead_manApprenticeStill, no matter what I do, I cannot get windows 1607 to work.
(6210 wifi share cable internet as a hotspot)
