Windows 10 (A6100 A6200 A6210) Installation Heads Up
As a heads up, DO NOT install Netgear's driver package for your A6xxx device on Windows 10. It permanently removes Windows 10’s ability to access the WiFi Connections list.
Instead, use the default driver that comes with Windows 10, of which will freeze when you try to connect to networks until you complete the installation of Intel’s new Chipset Drivers here:
https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/20775/Intel-Chipset-Device-Software-INF-Update-Utility-
If that still doesn’t work for you, try the following:
Go to Network List, select the network you are trying to connect to, hit “Connect”, you should see “enter password” box and also a message about using WPS to connect, then instead of entering the password go hit the WPS button on your router.
Your adapter should connect and function completely now.
For problems with the windows 10 included driver with the a6210 (e.g. no 5ghz networks visible) just use the latest driver from mediatek (5.1.21.0).
It is the newer version of the driver that came with windows 10 and with it i can join my 5ghz wlan, which wasnt able with the old one!
The chip in the A6210 is a Mediatek MT7612U.

Thanks paradeigmas. Unfortunately this did not work for my A6200. When I used the Intel® Chipset Software Installation Utility it said that my system required no updates. Also, after trying all the available drivers for the A6200 the Netgear Genie or the Microsoft WLan service would never initialize my A6200 again (the blue light would never come on). After spending about 16 hours screwing with it I was forced to roll back to a restore point before I installed the Netgear drivers. Amazingly, my A6200 started working again but of course I lost a substantial amount of data/system updates in doing so. It is completely beyond me that Netgear is not able to provide a functional driver for Windows 10 when a simple rollback from their currently released drivers restores functionality in our A6200 adapters. My current config is flaky at best even though the A6200 is working again, which is why I initially tried reinstalling the drivers. I have lost all confidence in Netgear, and I will be searching out a new vendor for all of my future WiFi products. Support you customers/products, Netgear!!

Everyone, I can't stress enough the answer is here for the A6210. http://www.mediatek.com/en/downloads1/downloads/usb/ . Uninstall all instances of the netgear driver and remove the wifi adapter. Reboot your pc and install the Mediatek driver only! Once the driver is installed, plug your adapter back in and the go to your adapter properties and change 2.4 and 5.0 region to 0. Reboot your pc and your problems will be resolved. You will also find that the A6210 is now cinnected at usb 3.0 spec.
I'm on an AMD system, and the Mediatek drivers DID NOT work for me. I'm glad they worked for you on your Intel system, but Netgear needs to step up and provide a compatible W

I have an A6210 with an AMD Chipset MBoard. I can see networks and connect, however, the connection constantly cycles between disconnected/connected regularly. This occurs as soon as I attempt to launch anything that uses the ethernet connection.
I tried using the native Windows driver but my machine 'hung' at the login prompt, removing the adaptor allowed me to login.
I then installed the Netgear driver and am now experiencing the problem mentioned above.
I have updated Chipset drivers etc. with no improvement to my problem.
I have accepted the Mediatek's raw driver as the solution to this problem. Unfortunately for AMD users this will not work properly for you. You must wait for Netgear to push out the Windows 10 driver.

Thank you for the replies. Looks as though I'll have to sit and wait for Netgear to update the driver for my 6210. I can connect via an alternative method for the time being.

My motherboard did end up failing (No big deal). Talk about a double whammy! I am going to buy another motherboard, will the meditek driver work for all intel based motherboards?
Ok, I find it absolutely mind boggling that we are HOW MANY DAYS past the official release of Win 10 and Still no concrete fix to this issue. I have an AMD chipset and sounds as though the 'work arounds' only work for the Intel chipsets. When is Netgear going to get off their A$$es and provide those of us, who make their paychecks possible, with a complete working package? I have an ethernet (trip hazard) cable run across the floor until this is fixed!!!
I may look at going to a different vendor in the future if this is the level of support we can expect from Netgear

I agree, I'm lucky enough to have a Intel based chipset with a work around, but the support has been atrioucious. I may look elesewhere for networking devices in the future. Netgear had over a year to work on drivers and failed.
You may want to look at ethernet based adapters, like this one:
Maybe if I just bump this thread enough they'll release an official, working Windows 10 driver.
- tthomas1947AspirantI have the same problem after installing latest netgear drivers. My workaround is to boot laptop without a6210 plugged in then when native adapter (2.4G) is up plug in the a6210. It loads up and switches to my 5G network ok.
This is pretty dang silly. I've watched this board for well over week now waiting and hoping an update would come each night, I can't believe no one at this company hasn't been affected by this. I've enjoyed my Netgear router and the a6210 was a heaven send, I planned on just getting an AC card, but tried it out and loved the speed. Now that the most widely used operating system has been updated (which a secret to no one) I can no longer use the 5Ghz connection. I've got an AMD 8350, which seems to be my downfall per this thread, but I feel like I'm being punished by Netgear.
Sincerely,
Update4WinX(and get your sh^t together)

Adding my name to those with issues. My A6210 will connect, but the connection is wildly unstable. I can sit and watch my desktop ping my router and 5 or 8 packets will drop out at a time, followed by a string of 10 or 20 good ones. Sometimes the connection drops out completely for 30 seconds or so.
Windows 10, installed the mediaTek drivers and updated my intel chipset drivers to latest.

The Asus USB AC55 has a Windows 10 Driver out (Reviews are not great):

If My netgear eperiences issues of dropped packets after by pc motherboard rebuild I will get a powerline adpater and be done with this crap:

Netgear have been working on Windows 10 compatibility for quite some time, please see here;
However it’s very difficult to develop and test for all computer configurations, especially where Windows 10 has been updated from an existing OS version as compared to a fresh install.
So, Netgear are quite aware of the issues highlighted in this thread and others and are very actively working to resolve those issues.
To assist in the most rapid and complete solutions Netgear engineers would be most grateful if people could provide some specific information. This thread is now somewhat confused as it deals with three different adaptors, and each has its own driver.
Please answer as much of the following as possible in a reply to this thread;
- What model of adaptor are you having issues with?
- Is the Win10 install a fresh install or an upgrade?
- If an upgrade, from what version of Windows?
- What is the H/W model of the PC/tablet/netbook?
- What driver version are you attempting to install?
- Did you try installing with AV / Firewall disabled?
- What error messages do you see?
- If no error messages what failure of functionality do you see?

I have a A6210, and I can't use Windows 10 on my PC. IF I use the drivers from netgear, I can't find or connect to any access point. If I use the default drivers for windows 10, it causes the OS to crash over and over and over again.

For those of you that are having issues with disconnects and dropoffs with the MediaTek driver, you need to go to the adapter properties and set region codes for 2.4 and 5 ghz. USA would be region code 0, roaming sensitivity to disable, enable prefer 5G, multimedia/gaming disable, AP Mode Force disable, IEEE802.11h disable. I have also set mine to connect at 5G only. Rock solid with no issues.
- zmaniaczGuide
Thanks dug_less. I had my settings exactly the same except for having it set to 2.4g + 5g. Since my network is only 2.4g, I set it to that and have been rock solid for an hour, which is a huge improvement. Seems to suggest a problem lies in the frequencey roaming. Maybe when the N tries to look for a 5g connection to glom onto in addition to the 2.4.
