EX 2700 unacceptable technical support
product info is irrelavent to my concern. I called tech support for help setting up a wifi extender for a client of mine. The technician, Alex Jones, launched into a hard sell to try and scare me into purchasing a antivirus package that wasn't needed but also wasn't my decision to make, therefore I declined and he immediately hung up on me. I then went back to the router control panel to make a change that I noticed while the technician was remotly brousing the computer. Remember, he hung up on me and terminated the session. As I was looking thru control panel his remote or chat window popped back up , he called me a smart ass and told me I couldnt fix the router. I took picture of the computer screen and included it below. BTW, the change I saw and made in router control panel DID fix the issue and did not cost the client the $199 Alex Jones insisted was required... My question is, is this acceptabe behavior from tech support? and who can I contact regarding this issue... I would like to put Alex Jones out of business

I'm doubting you actually talked to support. to get a hold of support you click "mynetgear" at the top, register an account and then the device. From there, is the option to contact support.
If you googled for a number, you more than likely got a scam/con site as the correct info isn't on there.

gearhead support which netgear uses also has a tier'd system.
89.99-6 months
139.99- 1 year
229.99- 2 year
or 49.99 single incident.
none of those are the amount you were quoted.
Another reason it'd make me suspicious that you contact a non-netgear support.

Ok just keep repeating your post.
fyi, this is the community forum where members of the public help others out. We're not netgear. We're not paid. We're just here helping othes.
good luck

I just had the same problem with Alex. He went through my computer, told me I had an unsecured Network and depending on my age what it will cost to fix the problem. He was rude and said I had to tell him I am sorry 10 times or he would not release my computer. I disconnected with him. What the hell kind of service are you people providing? I will never own or use another Netgear product in my lifetime and will be telling my experience with your compl, any on Social media.

I feel your frustration but wait, it gets worse... good luck finding anyone who cares or can do anything about it

tillford If you didn't actually contact netgear support, there isn't anything to be done about it.
None of your information matched up to what netgear charges for support and there a bunch of scam/con sites that people get directed to if they google support.
If you paid for support and they were sketchy, dispute the charge with your CC.
