EX7300 drops internet connectivity

Hi there,

so I purchased myself an EX7300. Manual setup went all well.

My problem is, that, although Windows states that it has internet access and and the wireless signal is at the highest level, my internet connection is lost every few minutes. I have to disable/enable the WLAN connection to regain internet access, but again, it's just for a short period.

When doing a Windows troubleshooting, the message is: Windows can't communicate with the device or resource (Primary DNS server) [primary DNS server is 192.168.0.1]

The extender has a static IP which is 192.168.0.50, but the router gives it a DHCP IP which is 192.168.0.106.

Firmware is the latest: 1.0.0.44

This is truly annoying and it renders the extender totally useless.

Any suggestions?

Thank you

NX

  • I think I solved the problem by giving the router a fixed wLAN channel (48) and the repeater another (40). Haven't had this issue since.

I've been having the similar issues (same model, same firmware version).  I've modified the settings so that router and extender have different channel numbers.  Hope this works for me as well.

When I called NETGEAR support, they've asked me downgrade the firmware to the initial release.. Rather than downgrading the firmware, I came to this site, and found your message.  Thanks for posting your details.

I have the same issue with the same model and firmware and can't find the solution!

I don't have the option to change the WiFi Channel.

        Help!

  • I see the same thing happening on my router as well.  The extender is set to be a static IP but the router shows it as a dynamic IP.  This is one of the issues I have been having.  The rest you can read under the topic R7800 and EX7300 network issues.
