Having Trouble connecting my Powerline 500 + WiFi (XWNB5201) NETGEAR POWERLINE AV500
Hi All,
First of all I am deaf and find great difficulty when seeking for any assistance as I'm obviously unable to use the telephone.
I bought this specific device as this was recommended by my broadband server Virgin Media. The main reason I purchased this device was to boost my wifi signal to an upstairs bedroom to allow me to use my Amazon Firestick on my TV.
Before purchasing it my wifi signal upstairs was poor/fair. However, when logging into the Amazon settings and into systems the 2G option is showing signal to be very strong, however, when I check the network status it then states poor/fair and loses the signal at times.
As I thought it was me that hadn't set up the Powerline up properly I then paid a PC Engineer to come and set up the Powerline again and the same problem arose, he took his money and closed the door on the way out stating there's a problem with your Powerline purchase. For the next few days I tried numerous ways of trying to rectify the problem without success.
Today (yes you may well think I'm mad) I paid a Communications Engineer to try and resolve the problem but again without any success and again stating my Powerline purchase is faulty.
Therfore my last resort before requesting a refund is to ask you very knowledgeable people is there a solution to resolve my connection problem I'm having?
Although I purchased this Netgear Powerline directly from Virgin Media I'm unable to make contact with them and as I've stated because of my hearing loss unable to phone them. They do NOT have a contact email address to therefore I'm left in the dark where to try to seek help.
A very disgruntled long standing Virgin Media Customer!!

Hello ianw314
Does your powerline base share the same wall that is powering your appliances like your refrigerator or washing machine? That can cause to much noise on the powerline for it to work you would have to move the powerline adapter to a different wall. Also have you tried to test the unit in a different room to see if you can get it to work just for testing?

Hi Darren,
Thanks for taking the time to reply.
Theres no electrical appliances in the room and yes I've also tried the adapter in another room.
How common is it for a new Powerline to be delivered faulty?
I have the Communications Engineer coming to install a TP Link wifi Powerline next week so this may confirm if it's the Netgear Powerline that is faulty.

I wouldn't say its common but it could be a faulty unit.
