WiFi extender Nighthawk EX7000 won't connect to the network wireless or with ethernet

I've tried all the steps I can find on line to get my extender to connect to the network but even sitting physically next to it using the WPS and a direct ethernet connection it won't.

  • Well, put it down to experience - Don't buy refurbished Netgear products.

  • Not sure. I put it in the same room and pushed both WPS buttons and nothing happened. Tried again with Ethernet cable and nothing happened. The 2 band signals stay amber and the connection arrows blink green when i plug it in and never change and it doesn't show up on my wifi list to connect to.

Apparently it's just a crappy extender that doesn't work. Unfortunely it took so long to try and work with it to get it to work and since you can't actually contact Netgear to talk to a person now there's no warranty and nothing I can do but eat all the money and hours I spent trying to get it to function. Very Unhappy!!!

  • Well, it should work. Call tech support (you may need to register the unit first) and then go through the troubleshooting routine with them. If they can't get it to work, get a warranty replacement.
  • I can't call tech support because it won't let me register it. It says the unit was already registered. I bought it refurbished and it looks like the previous owners had the same problem. They probably bought it, wouldn't work, registered it to get tech support and then returned it. Now I can't do anything with it and it obviously wasn't repaired correctly. Unfortunately since I spent so much time trying to make it work now the place I bought it won't take it back either.
