Wifi Extender
Have a Nighthawk AC1900 router and just purchased a Nighthawk X4 AC2200 Wifi Extender. Everything appears to be working - router link & client link both green and joining the EXT. However nothing loads when on EXT network and it will not connect with my smart TV that needs the extender. Please advise. Thanks

Can you explain what you mean by "nothing loads"?
Can devices see the SSID for the Wifi Extender?
Smart TVs can be beasts to set up. I'd get the Wifi Extender working with something else before moving on to that. In this way you can ensure that the extender is working before tearing your hair out over the TV.
- runBCAspirantThanks for the response.
When I select the 2gEXT or 5gEXT in the wifi choices (SSID?) on my iPhone, it shows the full (highest signal) wifi symbol up top, as if it's connected, however if I try loading a website or download email, nothing happens. I've reset the unit, changed unit locations, etc...- michaelkenwardGuru - Experienced User

Even if it is connected to that channel, you will need to login to that SSID using the password that you have set up in the extender.
The Netgear site does not recognise the Nighthawk X4 AC2200 as a model number. I suspect that you have the EX7300. The manual and stuff for this is here:
EX7300 | Product | Support | NETGEAR
This shows how to setup the access password and suggests that you "Use the same WiFi password that you use for your WiFi router."
- runBCAspirantYes...Quick Start guide has AC2200 listed, but back of the unit says EX7300. So I'll read over the manual link you sent. Thanks

The "AC" bit is usually related to the wifi speeds available. But Netgear sometimes uses it for model numbers. Just to make like interesting.
- runBCAspirantReset button and re-install procedure worked. Thanks

That's good news. It often helps to start from scratch.
I realised later that I had not suggested using the WPS feature to try to connect devices to the wifi. (Look that one up in the manuals if you aren't familiar with it.)
- runBCAspirantWPS is how I'm connecting, however any instances of the wifi extender interfering with the actual router? I'm having intermittent internet disconnects on a PC that's hard wired into the actual router. I unplug the extender and the PC stays connected, plug it back into the wall, it goes out. Frustrating considering it's Netgear router and Netgear wifi extender.

Hello RunBC
Are you having Ip conflicts do you notice when the PC goes out in the bottom left hand corner of your screen does a yellow triangle show up over the internet connection?
DarrenM
- runBCAspirantOn a iMac in Chrome browser. Will work intermittently then nothing will load and on the bottom left it will say "resolving host..." - then a "There is no internet connection" message on screen. If I unplug the wifi extender, the iMac, which is hard wired into the Nighthawk router, will reconnect to the internet. Thanks
- runBCAspirantNo yellow triangle though

Hello runBC
Do you have the latest firmware on your extender and your router?
DarrenM
- runBCAspirantYou have a link to firmware installation on both? Getting beyond my pay grade. Thanks

Then find these:
R7300DST | Product | Support | NETGEAR
EX7300 | Product | Support | NETGEAR
Hardly rocket science. No pay needed.
