WNDR3400v3 unable to connect to network switch FS608

I'm hoping for help setting up my home network with router configurations rather than buying new equipment. Any help is appreciated!

I had everything working great until my old Netgear RP614 router suddenly died. I replaced it today with a WNDR3400v3 and the network is not working like it used to.

The router gets internet from a cable modem which is still working fine.

The router connects to 2 places via ethernet:

1. an Apple Timecapsule which further connects to an iMac.

2. an old Netgear network switch FS608 v3 in the living room. The network switch connects to a number of devices: TiVo, Apple TV, Denon receiver, PS3, etc.

Since installing the WNDR3400v3 router, the connection to the living room network switch has been lost. The network switch powers on and shows connections to the TiVo, Apple TV, Denon receiver, PS3, etc, but those devices no longer have internet access.

The wired connection to the Apple Timecapsule and iMac is still good.

  • I'm embarassed to say that it turned out to be the cat5 cable I had running between my router and network switch that was causing the issue. I replaced it (pulled a new cable through the wall) and everything worked again. I'm not sure how the previous cable was damaged, but that turned out to be the issue.

    Welcome to the community, tenjay

Where is the FS608 connected to the WNDR3400? Which port?

Check if you have a light on the router.

If you you do not get a light on the port, connect a computer directly to that port and see if it will lit and get online.

Another thing you may do is to try a different port on the router.

Not the first time a bad lan cable has happen just one pair bad in a lan cable will keep a 1gb connection from working.

A lan cable test comes in handy try running a 120 foot only to find another person cut the cable in the middle after the sheet rock is up.

  • Have you tried to reset the devices in the living room back up when replaced the router you change lan settings to your devices from your posting you replaced the router no other changes to the network.
