WNR2000v4 cannot enable wireless radio
Hello
I have just moved and am trying to set up my old router in a new apartment. After much gnashing of teeth, I finally got the wired connection working, but I cannot seem to enable the wirelss radio. If I press the wirless button on the back of the router, the blue wirless light turns on, but the NETGEAR network does not show up under available connections. If I log in to routerlogin.net, even if the blue light is on, it says the wireless is turned off. The "enable wireless router radio" box is not checked. However, when I check it and click "Apply", after the "please wait a moment" notice goes away, it is STILL unchecked.
According to Router Login, I am running firmware V1.0.0.30. (I tried to update it earlier when I was unable to get the power lamp to be anything but amber, and presumably it updated because the power light finally turned green and I was able to connect, but I can't be entirely sure since it also said it failed to upgrade the first time.) Oddly enough, Router Login says "a new firmware upgrade is available" but if I try to update it, it then says that the file is the wrong version and to please get the correct version.
I have tried the factory reset button as well as turning everything off and on, and pressing the wireless button off and on several times. While I am not completely computer illeterate, this is all very out of my depth. Any help would be much appreciated. If there is any other relevant information I should gather, please let me know. Thank you very much.

Oops. I don't think I made it very clear about the firmware upgrade bit. I tried (and I think succeeded) in updating it manually by plugging my computer directly into the modem and downloading it from the netgear site and then using the tftp2 program.
Did the upgrade take?
What do the lights look like?

I have the same problem. I wish I never bought 3 of these. I always thought Netgear was the best. The regular router part works great but the Wi-Fi is definately an issue. You would think that when the blue Wi-Fi light is on, AND it shows that it is enabled, it would work NOPE. I have tried everything.I tried the Genie on the computer plugged into the router AND the phone App. Nothing seems to make it work. When I tried to use the third router I bought, and it still did not work,I was a little upset. Brand new. Right out of the box. No Wi-Fi. I read all the documentation AGAIN. Still no luck. The support system is not very good either. I'm sure you figured that out by now. It sucks when my Wi-Fi hotspot on my phone works better than an $80 router. I'm very dissapointed in you Netgear.

Buy a router that does not say NETGEAR. Problem solved. They know about these problems and do nothing about it because they already got your money. Very dissappointed in you Netgear.
