BT Vision (UK IPTV / Internet) - Multicast + Unicast on same wired port??
Hi,
I recently bought a Nighthawk R8000 to replace my BT Home Hub 4. All went well until I checked the BT Vision service I have. This box uses standard internet and multicast for TV services.
The problem I have is I can only have one or the other working at any time. So if I configure IPTV in bridge mode to wired port 4 I get the multicast TV channels but lose the standard Internet features.
If I then disable IPTV bridge mode I get normal internet services but lose the multicast channels.
Is there a mode / setting etc that supports both multicast IPTV and unicast traffic to the same wired port?
It feels like this should be possible I'm just not sure of what method to achieve it.
Cheers,
Wayne.
Hello All,
Here's a trial firmware that you may try to get it working.

- Hi Elaine... knowing my top of the range netgear can do what my old BT Home hub can do is very disappointing. Do you have an ETA for this feature?
Thanks Wayne.- SnowmattTutor
I agree with this. My router is an R7000, but having the same issue. These routers are high end and an such should have high end support. BT vision has been available for some time, so there should have been plenty of time the nighthawk routers to be updated to work as replacement for the stock routers.
Correcting typo: "Hi Elaine... knowing my top of the range netgear can't do what my old BT Home hub can do is very disappointing. Do you have an ETA for this feature?

Just wanted to add that my Netgear Nighthawk x4s (d7800) router/modem received a firmware upgrade lastnight (1.0.0.46) - in the firmware notes it mentioned that it was a fix for UK iptv issues specifically BT/plus net.
After installing the firmware I can confirm that I now receive BT sport channels directly and without any issues (though I have only just done the firmware so we will see in the long term). I didn't need to change any settings, it just worked after the router reboot.
Whether this is true for all nighthawk router/modems I don't know, but definitely for the D7800.

Yes, the r7000 has also received an update and one of the features is bt tv support and all is working well now.
- Yes.... it needs a firmware update that's Neen applied to other nighthawk routers but not the R8000
- ElaineM any news????

Does it work, if so an idiots guide to setting it up would be good.
- nightspiderAspirantOk this is working for me
I didn't check the disable IGMP proxy I checked the box just below it and the Internet channels started working
Just to confirm I have a Netgear R8000 instead of the Hut Home hub connected via power line adapters to the BT youview box via a TP link switch
Any questions please feel free to ask - nightspiderAspirantThanks Elaine and the Netgear Team
Hope it works for everyone else :)- ElaineMNETGEAR Employee Retired
