I can't get in to the netgear genie to reset my admin password

I need a help as my router setup for long time ago. And i got a trouble as my r7000 lost the connection with the red light. I tried to log in the app and i want to update the firmware as well but i forgot my admin password. I tried to reset password through the netgear genie but the continue button is unavailable for no reason. So where can i reset the admin password? Thank you everyone.

  • You'll have to do a factory reset (button at back) as password reset is broken and sends you in a loop. The button at back you can press for 10 seconds and then use the default user and password to login.

You refer to the genie. This could be one of several things, the browser interface, a Windows or Mac program for a PC, or a mobile Android/iThing app. Netgear labels them all as genies. Which are you using?

If you mean the mobile genie app, new firmware wiped that out on the R7000 some years ago. The Nighthawk app is what you need now.

If your R7000 still works with the genie, you may have a hill to climb to get it up to date. You may not be able to install the latest update without going through some intermediate stages first.

As microchip8 says a reset is the place to start.

You might want to think in terms of a manual update to your firmware.

    I find this bit worrying:

    What red light? What connection?
