Is it possible to disable one of the 5Ghz channel on R8000?
Hello,
Let me start saying that this is not an issue;
But lately I noticed that using the headset Astro A50 gen3 - the A50 uses the 5Ghz channels 149-165.
The R8000 has two 5Ghz bands one that ranges from 44-48 and another one that goes from 149-165. Is it possible to put both bands within 44-48? Or is it possible to disable the band that act on channels 149-165?
I can see I have the option to disable 5Ghz (all bands) but not individually.

Yeap, I noticed. But I think all of the netgear wtri-band ifi routers are like that. The R8500 lets the user disable either of the two 5G bands. The 5G-1 radio is limited to the lower 5G channel range, the 5G-2 radio is limited to the upper channels.

what exactly is the challenge? are the router and headset interferring with each other?
you can switch on the smart connect option to allow the router handle load distribution on the dual 5Ghz. smart connect optimizes and puts 5Ghz capable devices on the best 5GHz band appropriate for them

Apperantly the Astro A50 gen3 uses the same range of channels as the 5Ghz (2) band from the R8000 (149-165) - so whenever they conflict there is a sound drop of 1-2 seconds then the sound comes back again.
According to the Astro Gaming support - they told me that these headseats uses the high channels of the 5Ghz band (149-165 channels). They advised me to concentrate the channels bellow 100. If I had a dual band wifi router - yeah - not problem - but since the R8000 is a tri-band I can't isolate the 5Ghz channels to only bellow channel 100.
This is not an R8000 issue - its just Astro A50 gen3 that was designed like that.
Currently I have the Smart connection option on and both 5Ghz active (one on channel 44 and another on channel 149). The second 5Ghz band does not give me more options besides (149-165). Is there a reason for that? For example low channels will ahve less bandwitdh and higher channels higher bandwitdh ?

are u saying your headset uses all channels in the 149-165 band? and you dont pick a specific channel to use? i'd expect you should be able to pick a specific channel for the headset and that should solve the problem
the R8000 5GHz channel does not use auto mode to pick a channel in the band...you can specify one of four between 149 and 161 and keep the astro above 161 to avoid any overlap
- fmirandaAspirantThe Astro wifi base does not have the option of manually selecting the channels from the 5Ghz band. Its on auto select.
It would be cool if I could either disable the second 5Ghz band from R8000 or set the 5Ghz1 to 44 and 5Ghz2 to 48, but I can't - is there a reason for that? - StephenBGuru - Experienced User

I can see I have the option to disable 5Ghz (all bands) but not individually.I can see that from your user manual. Most of the tri-band routers will let you do that, but apparently not yours.

Well its not such a big deal, It would be great if netgear would give that option.- fmirandaAspirant
It would be great to have that feature on R8000 routers - to disable either the 5Ghz1 or the 5Ghz2 channels. I really do not wish to use the higher channels (149-165). How to open a feature enhancement for the R8000 firmware?
I know we have the option to disable all 5Ghz signals (5Ghz1 and 5Ghz2) but I just wanted to disable the 5Ghz signal that manages the higher channels.
