Nighthawk AC1900 (R6900)

Hi

I was using this  wifi router along with netgear c3700  wifi modem with com cast xfinity

My C3700 ceased working , i have replaced based my modem  with Arris SurfBoard SB6190

I'm able to browse the internet if I connected the etherernet cable in the LAN Port , if I connect the same cable in R6900

Light indicaator shows its connected to internet but  not able to browse it ,  I tried the reset button  and also tried to login on the router login page http://192.168.1.1/ or http://192.168.0.1  with another lan cord physical connnected to the router but not able to reach the settings page  even reset is not completely doing the factory reset mean to say replacing the factory ssid and password configuration

Any help how to solve this issue is greatly appreciated

Thanks,

sundher

  • Hi Antinode,

Thanks for your reply, I'm able to solve this out with the following actions

1.I disconnected the ethernet cable from modem  to router

    2. Power off the router and modem

    3. I switch on the router and press the  reset button for 10 seconds, without connecting it to the modem

    4. Once the router boot up I able to see  the  Factory created SSID is showing up in the WIFI broadcasting list

    5. I turn off the router and turn on the modem and wait for it to get established connection with the local node

    6. Once connection is established I connected the ethernet cable from Modem to  wifi router and another ethernet cable from router to Mac

    7. I connected the router admin page and updated the firmware in the modem

    8. I also run the setup wizard again to configure the router and the issue got resolved.

Thank you so much for all your help and guidances

    Thanks

    Sundher

"not able" is not a useful problem description.  It does not say what
you did.  It does not say what happened when you did it.  As usual,
showing actual actions with their actual results (error messages, ...)
can be more helpful than vague descriptions or interpretations.

How do you know that?  Again, actual observations, please.

Visit http://netgear.com/support , put in your model number, and look
for Documentation.  The User Manual should explain the procedure.

What is this Ethernet cable connecting to the router?  Some computer?
    Which OS?

      Problem
Not able to connect to interner via r6900 after changing the modem

      Observations
Validate the internet is working through new modem - yes via ethernet cable

White led light indicator is showing up
      For following
      Power
      Internet
      2.4 ghz
      5 ghz

      Steps
      Tried
Reset the router by pushing the reset button
Router rebooted but ssid still showing the one i configured but not the ones came out of factory setting , I observed this by scanning the wifi

Try to reach setting page by physically connect the laptop with router and try to browse router setting page but getting 404

        > Reset the router by pushing the reset button

Did you follow the procedure in the User Manual?  "pushing the reset
button" is not a useful description.

        > Router rebooted but ssid still showing the one i configured but not
        > the ones came out of factory setting [...]

Ok.  Then that was not a full ("factory") reset.

        > Try to reach setting page by physically connect the laptop with router

Does "physically connect" mean that you ran an Ethernet cable from
your "the laptop" to one of the LAN ports of the R6900?

        > and try to browse router setting page but getting 404

What, exactly, does "browse router setting page" mean?  What,
exactly, did you put into the browser's URL box?  If you really got a
"404" error, then it might be time to reload the firmware of the R6900.
If you got some other failure, which did not actually say "404", then
please don't try to interpret the actual error, just report it.

        > Which OS?

           Still wondering.
