R7000 Firmware

I have a R7000 running firmware 1.0.11.126.  It should be getting 240mb download.  It keeps dropping to 80mb download. Research indicates it is a firmware issue.  I have downloaded 1.0.11.136 and tried to install it.  The install starts and runs for about 15 seconds, the it says session closed.  How do I get the current firmware installed.

What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too?
Be sure your using a good quality LAN cable between the modem and router. CAT6 is recommended.

How are you connected to the router? Wireless or wired? Wired is preferred for speed testing.

Has a power off for 1 minute then back ON with the ISP modem and router been performed since last update?
Be sure to restart your network in this sequence:
    Turn off and unplug modem.
    Turn off router and computers.
Plug in and turn on modem. Wait 2 minutes for it to connect.
Turn on the router and wait 2 minutes for it to connect.
Turn on computers and rest of network.

Has a factory reset and setup from scratch been performed since last FW update? A complete pull of the power adapters for a period of time after the factory reset then walk thru the setup wizard and setup from scratch.

    How is wireless settings configured?

Is Smart Connect enabled or disabled?

What channels are you using? Auto? Try Auto and 48 on 5Ghz. Or try setting manual channel 1, 6 or 11 on 2.4Ghz and 40 to 48 channel on 5Ghz.
Any Wifi Neighbors near by? If so, how many?

What security modes are you using? WPA2/AES Only is best.

I have done all of the power cycling and resets.  Sounds like the only fix is to reset to factory defaults, install latest firmware.  Correct?  What a pain, I should not have to go through this.  Will it actually fix the issues?

Yes it is a pain.  The track record of the default reset resolving issues is good.  No guarantee it will fix your issue.  You could also have line issues feeding problems to your un-named modem/ONT.

When you get it working, then save a backup configuration file and note the firmware version it was created under.  Makes restoring the settings less painful.

Be sure and clear the cache on your web browser before you start the process.  You might need to do a firmware default reset and router configuration from scratch after installing the update.  Do not import a previously saved configuration file.

What is the brand name and model number of the modem you are connecting your R7000 to?
