RS600 Setup Problems
Hi,
I am trying to set up a new Nighthawk RS600 but cannot seem to connect to the internet with it. I have a TPG HFC connection. I'm moving from an Netgear Orbi so I would think it should work. I contacted TPG and they couldn't solve my problem. I assume there is a setting I need change but just can't work it out, having already spent half a day on it.
Thanks
Hi Jim
I hope this reply is not too late for you.
I bought a RS600 recently and had the same problem like you: TPG, CM8200B and RS600. I could not make the RS600 get the internet. Finally, I worked it out.
The solution is
In the webpage RS600 setup menu, choose BASIC-Internet then set
Require a login
Internet Port(10 Gbps)
PPPoE
your TPG username (doesn't need email format, just the name)
password
then leave all other as default
Then go to the bottom of this page, VLAN ID Configuration
Tap VLAN/Bridge Settings, enable VLAN/Bridge group, pick By VLAN tag group, EDIT AND make the VLAN ID to 2.
Apply the setting and hopefully, the RS600 should work.

Yes I have tried with the ISP. The PPPoE settings provided don't work. I've tried to emulate the settings from my older Netgear router, but have had no luck. I have reached out to Netgear for support and am waiting for a reply. I have found some other examples of this happening with TPG and this router, with the only solution being a new ISP that doesn't use PPPoE or a different router.

Does ISP use any specific WAN side configurations like VLAN or PPPoE or just DHCP?
What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too?
Be sure your using a good quality LAN cable between the modem and router. CAT6A STP is recommended.Has a power off for 1 minute then back ON with the ISP modem and router and satellites been performed since last update?
Be sure to restart your network in this sequence:
Turn off and unplug modem.
Turn off router and computers.
Plug in and turn on modem. Wait 2 minutes for it to connect.
Turn on the router and wait 2 minutes for it to connect.
Turn on computers and rest of network.Be sure to set up the router using a wired PC and web browser: https://kb.netgear.com/22697/How-do-I-install-my-NETGEAR-router-using-the-router-web-interface

Hi,
The ISP uses PPPoE. The ISP provides the Arris CM8200B modem. The cable im using is the new cable that came with the RS600 and I'm connecting the PC to it via the LAN port when changing the settings.
I haven't had a chance to sit down and follow the instructions you provided yet, but will update once I've done that. Thanks for the reply.

May need to use the routers web page to set up PPPoE configuration for the ISP service. Routers web page under Advanced tab/Setup/Internet.
Contact the ISP for there help and information regarding PPPoE configurations that they require for use.
