Try powering down, removing the disks, and then power up.
See if RAIDar detects the NAS with a no-disks status. https://kb.netgear.com/20684/ReadyNAS-Downloads#raidar

prior to shut down, I had green numbers 1, 2, 3, 4 disk activity led dark
shut down returns status code of "do_exit+9ec"
pulled power cable
pulled drives
put drives back
waited 30 seconds
powered back up
green light on 1,2,3,4 flashing green disk activity LED
Wireshark shows no traffic on prior dynamic IP
no recorded devices matching the NAS name on IP list

What StephenB asked you to do is remove the drives and leave them out when you turned the unit back on. If RAIDar then finds the NAS and reports "No Disks", then that indicates an OS problem on the drives, not a hardware or boot flash one.

there are cell phones, and Amazon Alexa which I would expect would be WOL in addition to several file servers and internet traffiic. There are 35 active devices in the FAM. I guess the answer would some some?

I guess it helps to read all of the ideas. I will retry it tomorrow after work. BTW: the tech support code is 51213 for the network card.
