Polkast fails to install on RN102

I've purchased myself a new NAS this week and went onto Genie+ and purchased "Polkast" however it seems to have got stuck...as Genie+ states "Installing" and my NAS says it can't load the application. I've contacted both Netgear and Polkast support (rebooted a few times and even did an OS re-install...all requested by support) but nothing seems to fix the issue, so I was hoping that someone on this forum either knows what I need to do (as I can't be the only person to have any issue with installing apps via Genie+) or may have some tips for me to try myself.

  • Well..I've managed to get the app installed (After trying different ways....Not 100% sure how I did it...but its installed and working).

    One thing I would like to add to this post is that Polkast support told me the Netgear informed Polkast that there will be no more work being done on the Genie+ framework...So not really sure if that means will we get another (Better application for purchasing or what ?)...I guess we will have to wait and see.

  • Great.....I was having some issues with Polkast, so clicked on the trash can icon within Genie+ to un-install so that I could do a re-install....but after it removed it...it now states "No compatible devices were found" and looking into the description of the app I can no longer see my RN102 as being supported. :cry:

    Therefore had no choice but to raise another support call with Netgear.

    So not really sure what's going to happen now..!

  • Well, after various emails from Netgear support they have come back and now stated "The Engineers could no longer make the app work due to compatibility issues. they are requesting that you process a refund to Polkast first."

    So don't really know what Netgear / Polkast are going to do now....re are they going to find a way to make it work with the newer range of NAS from Netgear? as Polkast's website states Netgear is supported, but the Genie+ Marketplace now only lists "RND4000 and RND2000" as being able to install the app.

    If I get anymore information as to if the latest range of Netgear NAS's are going to be supported, I will update this post.

    Sorry about the inconvenience.

    You can always re-install the apps you've purchased through genie+ marketplace. Log in to genie.netgear.com and under your name, click on "My Purchases". Then you can re-install from there.

    Sorry, but when I clicked on that (i.e. to re-install) if failed to install, and now everytime you try again it reports Installed within "MY PURCHASES", but when clicking on the "MY APPS" tab it states "Installing" within a blue box...and has been for over a week.

    Only when I clicked on the purchase an application within Marketplace, it would then state "No supported devices found"....I have seen that Netgear has removed the app now from Marketplace.

    Netgear 3rd line support had the call I raised and basically came back stating "The Engineers could no longer make the app work due to compatibility issues. they are requesting that you process a refund to Polkast first".

    So, I guess I'll have to wait until Polkast / Netgear find a way to make it work again (without Genie+).

    Sorry about that. The reason is that Polkast is no longer supported on the OS6 devices. We will process a refund. Please PM me the date you purchased Polkst.

    I've already responded to the support call I raised, as they are dealing with the refund.

    All in all...it a shame that Polkast does not work with OS6 / Genie+....as I really liked the idea of Polkast.

  • if it's any consolation, i've also had issues with the application on my RN102
    the program is great when it works, but I keep having the game of hide & seek with the OS6 web interface + the 'genie' netgear store (probably grants you 3 wishes then stops working, it certainly feels that way, as it's been really frustrating) store where you have to keep logging in & find you cannot edit the settings for the polkast install.
    then you have to toggle genie services off/on with the readynas, after a few days it might spring to life and actually work.
  • the original poster may still be having problems,
    but in my case - I reset my unit again (running 6.1.4) and the install went through without an issue. I'm leaving it as is, as the Polkast app is superb when working!
